I'm curious if anyone uses any unlocked LG phones with T-Mobile? How is the reception? Currently I have the wing, but it is over a year old and starting to crap out, I'm waiting for an unlocked NAM version of the touch diamond, but I don't think my wing will hold out that long. Until the touch diamond arrives I'm thinking of getting the LG Vu. Any advice, opinions or info on were I can get the phone unlocked would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

P.S. how come T-Mobile is the only one of the top 4 carriers that doesn't have LG phones in there line up?

As for the LG situation, no one knows. LG however is better than the current Samsh*t we have or Motos, so I would welcome LG with open arms.

And welcome to TmoNews!

Well, eBay is your best bet, or craigslist. Here are some listings for it on eBay: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=unlocked+LG+vu&category0=

Welcome, Gedi. :)
It's been great knowing you guys, thanks. - THECOW

Samsungs are known for bad reception. I've had a couple of friends complaining about worse reception on their Katalysts when I got better reception with my Razr and Curve. Motorolas have good reception also (V195 and Razr had good reception, don't know about newer models).

I thought samsung should make some decent 3G phones, I checked 3G spec on FCC doc, then go ahead to get T639 in case of 3555 goes dead
BOOM!!! big mistake!
3G reception on T639 is horrible at best, I put it near the kitchen window, and turn off the repeater, the phone keeps bouncing between 2G and 3G when I watch slingplayer on HP211, tethered with T639, while ALL other devices (6263, 3555, 2 data cards) work perfectly in 3G mode
I'll avoid samsung phone the rest of my life

I just got a LG Shine KE970 and the reception is great! Also my SMS works all the time were as on my Mobile MDA it only worked sometime! I only wished Mobile would sell nice phones instead of the junk they are and have sold in the past except for the G1! And that LG USA would recognize unlocked world phones in the USA on other providers other than AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon to name a few.

My friends have the LG Vu and they all said it gets pretty boring after a while. I honestly wouldnt recommend it because there ALOT of many phones out there that are unlocked and are ALOT better than the LG Vu. So look around i know ebay has unlocked phones thats where alot of my friends get there unlocked phones. But the only problem would be is that if you get a unlocked phone then there will be no insurance with it. But i think you can buy a seperate warranty with it.

I had the LG Cookie (KP500) Pink and it worked fine. In order to receive picture messages, T-Mobile needs to configure the phone.

Recently bought my wife an unlocked LG Incite when the screen on her Samsung T639 went.

If you read most review on this phone you will see most folks either like it or hate it.  Out of the box this phone is no where near set up to its full potential.  With some ROM updats and minor tweaking, it a pretty darn nice phone, but you need to put some time into it.  Keep in mind, I'm not very smart phone literate so if I can make this phone reach its full potential anyone can.  Yes there are some quirks with the accelerometer (especially if using some of the custom ROMs) but this is avoidable (accelerometer is a prime culprit for occasionally locking the phone (just soft reset to fix).  Other then that, is has Microsoft Windows Mobile, Microsoft Office, GPS and WIFI (either paid or free of charge).
