It won't. You won't see anything happen because It runs in the background. Just pull up telnet after that and type in the commands in the terminal that are in the instructions, it'll work, don't worry.

As Tabasco stated you need to pull up telnet  , if you don't have it download it and make sure that you are connected to your network. then you can run the commands.

Can you please provide me with what your doing once you are in the bootloader and also what you are seeing on the screen?

Also you can try to get the stock SPL and applying that first and then applying the RC29 Image.  To do that first dl this file: http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/G1OrigBootloader_nocheck.zip

Rename it to update.zip place it also on the root of your sdcard, and then reboot into recovery, apply the update via alt+s.

Then reboot phone into OS fully.  Then reboot into bootloader and attempt to apply the RC29 Image.

At this point if your still running into issues it's probably because the phone is having issues seeing the RC29 Image.

To fix this ...

1. Format the SD card to FAT32 mode (this is sometimes needed. The image is not always found if other files are on the sd card).

2. Unzip the RC29 image file DREAIMG.nbh to the SD card.

http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/DREAIMG-RC29.zip

3. Turn the device power off and insert SD card.

4. Hold Camera button, and press Power button to enter bootloader mode.

5. Press Power button to start upgrade procedure.

6. After it finishes, reboot by pressing Send, Menu and End simultaneously.

Letme know if you still run into any issues.  :D

Is it normal to see:
Android system recovery utility
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command

When doing a restart using HOME + POWER ?

Did I screw up the recovery image process?
Thanks!!

EDIT... After installing the JF_recovery image I no longer see this.. just got a lil anxious.

Help!

Just to confirm you are booting into the bootloader (rebooting while holding Camera+END)?

It's the white screen w/ 3 android's on skateboards?

Once that loads up you should see in the  middle of the screen it says "Serial0" or "FASTBOOT" if it says Serial0 then press teh back arrow key till the screen shows FASTBOOT.

Then in the cmd prompt when u type fastboot devices it just closes?

Never mind, I was typing "fastboot devices" on the run line instead of the cmd, I got thrown off because there is a typo on your guide "-Once you have completed this Open a Cmd Prompt (Windows Key + R, the cmd)" it should be "... then cmd"  I read it over and figured out my mistake. Thanks.

Not a problem there are tons of builds to pick from so I know it can be a bit of a pain to decide.

Here is a pretty good comparison that shows alot of the features of each of the builds: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517506

I'll be modifying the table in the first post later on today, but if you have any questions on any of the builds feel free to ask.
One thing to note that if you go directly from the RC29 Image to any cupcake build you will want to make sure to flash the JF Recovery located here: http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/JFv1.43_Recovery.zip after the build you pick.

What I am also curious is not the differences, but the recommended rom?

I flashed to 1.51 US but am wondering if I should flash to the ADP only because the themes out currently seem to revolve around ADP - would I harm my phone flashing a 1.51 ADP theme on a US rom?

I don't know about the superuser Whitelist, but neither myFaves or IM are included on the ADP firmware versions.  ADP is for the developer phones that are not T-Mobile phones.  Because of this, they will not have any T-Mobile software such as myFaves, IM, or Amazon MP3.

I have just installed the 1.51 US version to my phone and am having trouble trying to move the Apps to SD.  When I open the terminal emulator and try to gain SU access by typing "SU", the whitelist program starts to load up to ask for permission, but just says "SU Request" on the top left with the rest of the screen black.  I have rebooted my phone several times to have the same problem.  Without being able to grant SU access to my terminal emulator, I can't make any of the changes necessary for Apps to SD.  Any thoughts?

Just wanted to say that I found the answer to my own question with some Google searching.  For some reason, there seems to be a glitch where the SU access program freezes up if you uncheck the option to "Use USB Debugging Mode" in the phone's settings.  Make sure you leave this on if you want to grant SU access apparently.

Also on the SuperUser App I've noticed that it's glitchy if you change from portrait to landscape and vice versa.  I find it best to not change my view till after the app kicks up the SU app and I have selected allow.

@jblann81, did what jimbo state fix your issue with the SU app?
