I did do a little searching around but haven't run into anything that addresses all of these points.

I have had my phone for a month and absolutely cannot stop playing with it.  However, the more I browse around I run into threads on crackberry and posts on here about common Curve 8900 problems and that people are getting their phones replaced because of them.

My phone exhibits three "issues" that some people seem to be getting a replacement for:

1.  My keys wobble around a little bit, the whole pad does literally.  It's not much, but they do wiggle around.
2.  When I press the end key the LCD screen ripples on the bottom.  Under normal use I don't honestly notice this and only did the other day because I looked for it.  It is definitely there though.
3.  The shiny black plastic the keys are placed in is creaky and can be pressed down.

I can live with all of them but if I am able to call T-Mobile up after a month and have a newer replacement that has a higher build quality that would be nice but I can live with it the way it is.  I just want to know if these problems are highly common and that I shouldn't think I had some factory mess up.

I also created this to maybe consolidate issues people have with the phone so other tin foil hat-wearing BlackBerry users can obsessively fret about the tiniest problems with their phone's build quality as well.

Wow, some people are just very analytical about things, like #3... who really sits there and presses down on the black around the keys? :D

I will say the one thing that concerned me at first but I've grown to deal with is my back cover is just a little bit loose (it wasn't like that at first but over time it got loose). Otherwise, I think this phone is much better than its predecessor, the 8320. The 8320 just felt so cheap in its build; this one actually feels like it'll take a beating and survive.

All I know is I love my BB 8900 - not everyone and their mother has it; I also love how sleek it is. 8)

I have an 8900, and it has ALL three of the previously mentioned "issues". I would just assume that there isn't an 8900 out there that doesn't have those things.

It is a mass-produced cellphone, if you want quality head over to a Vertu dealer...now that is quality, I have never seen anything like that. I always though that the higher end Nokia's were the best. HTC is looking up as well, but not to the same level as Vertu.

1 and 3 aren't really major issues. 2 is one that you can return for.

I'd only worry about #2 myself.

I don't even notice #2 when I try to look for it :)

I haven't noticed it either even looking for it over and over.  The only time I noticed the screen "ripple" was when I pressed on the screen or the borders of the screen.

The screen ripple only happens on select devices. Some Bolds had screen ripple when you pressed some of the menu keys (call, power/call end, menu and back.)

i hate to say it but 8320 build quality is much better

just because it looks solid doesnt mean it is.

i dropped my 8320 about 4-5 times on concrete and all i have is a lil scuff on the edge barely notticeable
it bounced around few times. only one time battery fell out.
that was about 5 months ago i dropped it last time and i havent had any issues with it physical or OS related.

now as solid as 8900 might looki do not think that it will live thru even half of drops.

Welcome to TmoNews!

I'm not sure about durability of the 8900 since I have a rubber case on it, but it seems pretty durable.

I have dropped my 8900 twice, both times nothing happened to the phone.  Since then I got my Beyza slim line pouch in, but, I have also been more careful and have not dropped the phone since then.

I love this phone.

I've had my 8900 for less than 30 days. About a third of the back lit keys are dimmer than the rest. Recently, the End button clicks and creaks when I press it; it's been driving me crazy.

But I really don't think it's fair to get a refurb 30 days after I bought it. Sigh...
