I just up graded to .206.  I think everything went well, however, I have an email notification at the top of the screen saying I have two new emails.  The problem is I do not have any new emails in any of the accounts on my BlackBerry.  I am doing another battery pull now to see if this goes away.

Try the battery pull if that doesn't work try reloading it with the OS again.

Nope, I am just an idiot.  After doing two battery pulls and deleting all my email off my 8900, I realized that the two notices were hidden not in the three separate email accounts I monitor, however, in the general "messaging" folder that I keep hidden.  So I clicked on em and bye bye went the notifications.  It has been 24hrs now and all is well.  I think I am going to stick with this one for a while to see how my battery does with it.  With .114 there were days that the battery was giving me the warning lights before I went to bed (every night I plug it in to recharge).  Thanks for all the help kickstar.

No problem. The battery life on the .206 lasts me 1 1/2-2 days on extreme usage that is if you want longer battery life

ok its been doing something weird on mine after that new os even after i click the answer button it rings for like 5 seconds. other than that i dont really see a big improvement on this one,

edit: now its really annoying that everytime i answer i have to look at my phone to see the screen change, and the person calling me knows i answered and has already been talking but by the time i get that screen i am just clueless on what they said.

Any new OS coming soon?

Edit: getting back to .206 my phone has been having a lag every time i make a call answer a call or send a message, when i send a message it stays at the writing screen and the little wheel keeps rolling for almost a minute.

I've been a bit busy lately so I haven't really had the time to try out the new OS. I'll upgrade soon even though .206 has served me very well. I went a week without rebooting (had to reboot for an Evernote upgrade,)

I've shopped at PCMicroStore.com before and have been pleased with them. They have a MicroUSB cable available at http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:1634228 for $5.08 each [this same Cables Unlimited cable at Amazon is $6.35]. If you're also familiar with Fry's Electronics, they have the cable for sale at http://www.frys.com/product/5800573?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG for $9.99 each.

Hope that helps!

Here we go another OS Upgrade! YAY!

Latest OS: 8900 4.6.1.353/4.6.1.231 (English + East Asian) AS OF 5-15-09

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8900 smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.353 (EastAsia) plus English

Package Version: 4.6.1.353
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.1.231
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.108
* File name: 8900jEastAsia_PBr4.6.1_rel353_PL4.2.0.108_A4.6.1.2 31_Hutchison.exe
* File size: 121.59MB

Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=06997F04A7DB92466A2BAA6EBC8B872D

Instructions to install on ANY 8900 from ANY CARRIER.

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

WARNING: Loading your Blackberry Device with this OS and sending it back to tmobile will result in a Out OF Warranty notice and a fee. So before you send back the device make sure to put the OFFICIAL OS  for your BB device from tmobile you can get it at www.tmobile.com/bbupgrade

Changes in this OS: Just started using this yesterday. More memory is the only thing I've noticed so far. I'll keep you guys posted if I see any other differences.
You know, I just browsed BB's site and saw that AT&T is running this same OS.

Here's the link for the multi-language one from AT&T:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4

BTW - you can also download from this page the software Kickstar13 informed you about.

Have you tried out the new OS sman?
I am downloading the BB8900 OS from AT&T and will be extracting it shortly ... I think my hybrid OS was giving way... time for the upgrade to .231!

Edit: I love this OS. It is the fastest responding OS I've used on the 8900. I've had this phone off the charger since 4:30 a.m. and just now checked - I'm only down 20% batter life AND have a lot less memory loss! ... Plus there's this new explanation under Options where if you scroll to Profiles, it now says "Profiles (Ring Tones)" LOL!

I've also installed .231. I haven't been able to do much battery life observations because I haven't given the phone a full charge for most of the week. The battery life is better than .206 because I know I couldn't run through a day with 60% charge on .206, but I can with .231.

From 4:30 a.m. yesterday through 10:15 p.m., I lost 30% battery life. That was abusing the battery. Today, over a 12 hour period, I've lost 20% of the battery. I'll venture to say that the battery life is noticeably better. Sweet!

Woho glad its working out for you! This seems like the most stable OS for the 8900 as of yet. Battery life is nice as well.
