On the site is says Q1 2009, but on crackberry they are saying that T-mobile wants to release it mid november.  I have heard rumors all over about Oct/Nov release for it, and crossing my fingers that they are true because I am using a bo bo phone til I can get my hands on this new bad boy, but I don't know if I can wait til Q1 2009, so whats the new info?

The latest thing I have heard is that Tmobile has a few blackberry releases lined up for 2008, so hoping the curve2/jav is one of em.

Welcome to TmoNews!

The Curve 2 should be a great seller. The Curve is already a good seller. Add a thinner and lighter form factor, GPS, and the new BlackBerry OS and you have a winner. I think the Curve 2 will come out between November 2008-January 2009.

I would get a Javelin if it had 3G. But I'm still very happy with my Curve and I'm probably going to ride the wheels off it at the rate RIM is releasing 3G BlackBerrys. In fact I have a Seidio case (it's the rubberized InnoCase) coming tomorrow to help protect my BlackBerry. Now if only I could get this thing to tether with my laptop then I would be ok for a while.

I am surprised T-Mo named it the Curve 2. Why wouldn't they want to give a new like like the Javelin with a replacement device. Same with naming convention of the Pearl Flip. Change the name back to the Kickstart.

Curve and Pearl are popular. Same reason Ford went back to the Taurus name as opposed to the Five Hundred.

I would say....no.  But it kind of falls in the face of the popularity thing - the Curve and Pearl are popular, so why not go with Curve 2 and Pearl Whatever.  ;)

I don't really trust all the names at this point.

While being shown the Pearl Flip, I asked the RIM rep if we will see anything else this year, especially in a qwerty flavor.  She said no, that the flip would be it for this year.

But why would Tmobile be so hush hush about the Shadow II?

If you are hearing that from multiple sources than it must be true.
Plus I saw somewhere where someone said they went to that meeting and didn't see the Shadow on display and that it wasn't even mentioned. But other phones (blackberry and samsung) were seen and talked about. I'm with you on this one.

Regarding the Shadow II naming...

IIRC, the Shadow came out originally as a part of a line of Shadows.  I believe it has always been intended to be a part of family of phones.  I would have really thought that to stay in that frame of mind, they would have released something sooner than whenever the II is coming out... it seems as its more of a replacement than a brother/sister/cousin.
