the Cuve 2 has a trackball and its 13.5mm thick. im sure HTC can handle making it max 13mm.

Hmm, the screen on my G1 is starting to get loose.  When closed, now it "rocks" when touching the edges.

But I still love hardware keyboards, though if it responds well I can roll a virtual one fairly well.

Sadly, I just can't justify a new phone at this time so soon after the G1.

Hmm I don't know if I would be interested in this or not... The big reason I would switch from my iPhone to the G1 is the keyboard.

... and the fact that I use linux and I cannot update my iPhone

I actually really like the phone design, and doesn't look to thick to me.. but I think its weird that there are already "wild" shots out there.. i mean the g1 is still fairly new

well, from what is rumored (really, more like speculation) the g2 is destined for a Q2 release, so like May or June.  That is a 6 month turn around between the G1 and G2.  Personally, i don't think this is horribly off saying it is a different type of device (no keyboard).  If the G2 did have a keyboard and was just a shinier version of the G1, I would be confused.  Maybe HTC will start releasing their Android devices in pairs, one with a keyboard and one without, (much like the touch diamonds vs touch pros).

No physical keyboard no go.......oh and can we get some "no-root/dev required" themes....I've been checkin out the xda-dev forums and there are some pretty nice themes available for rooted/dev g1s.  Back to the g2 it has a sleek look to it, but give me a keyboard and a better UI and I will buy it.

I think if the g2 had a keyboard, I would hope they would remove the chin. When I look at the g1, and when I hold it with the keyboard open, I look at the chin as if it just shouldn't be there..at all. I think I just want a all touch screen phone because I can't have a iphone.

Does anyone else think the G2 has a rather disappointing design?

January 24, 2009, 01:16:04 pm
i dont think so by two pics you will never know until you have it in your hand not to mention we don't even know how this will function. Now in cupcake there are transition effects and better application management and if you think about it if this phone comes out in july or something im pretty sure there will be another update thats like 6 months from now so android will get only better.

yes. i think the G2 will be a huge disappointment. it seems to me that the sammy android will have better specs and I KNOW, based on samsungs recent history, the phone will be sexy. the G2 wont sell when people see the sammy. especially since the sammy's gunna come out sooner.

you dont necessarily know which one would come out first. I'd say that since there are G2's floating around, we may see it first. i do agree tho that the samsung android device will probably look better. the g2 leaves alot to be desired looks wise.

Samsung Android - late Q1 or early Q2
G2 - May (aka late-ish Q2)

and even if the Sammy comes out later, it wont be for more then a month later, and its boost a sleek design and at least 5mp camera compared to the G2 fugly design and 3mp camera. the camera alone will make consumers with no knowledge about image quality want the samsung.

Well, I'm not sure on this because I haven't tested the g1's camera very much, but I think the Omnia's 5mp camera has better photo quality than the g1, it has a better camera than the behold.

the omnia and behold have the same camera. the G1's camera blows.

They are the same, but somehow the Omnia's is better, maybe I just diluted myself into thinking that because I like the Omnia so much.
