the new sidekick will most likely have both 3G and a touch screen. the OS will definitely look different so it can be finger friendly and the fact that now microsoft owns it. they'll prolly put in a zine player and nice internet. and in order to have a good browser it must be fast therefore it will have 3G. many people (including myself) that have a sidekick hate using the internet since its so slow. the keyboard probably wont change much, maybe some cosmetic changes, but all in all the keyboard on sidekicks is great, minus the slide.
if it includes a touch screen and its made by sharp, it will have a nice screen. the phones sharp make for the asian market have exceptional screen quality. one even has a higher resolution then the touch hd.

im sure the new sidekick will be great.

i cant wait to see what the new sidekicks will be. i think they should at least include 3G in the new sidekicks. touch screen could be pushing it, but it is always a possibility. hopefully the new sidekicks will have the best of everything.

Yeah, I'm not that sure about having a touchscreen sidekick because that could be going TOO far.
I agree with jsquared8 .

in order to make a touchscreen sidekick the OS will HAVE to be revamped. the current danger software is in no way, shape or form capable of allowing for touch input. think about it...

not really...the UI will definitely be revamped but in terms of power, the OS could be more or less the same...not that that's a bad thing, because it's fine for it's target audience except for the internet which was my biggest problem with it...

what do you mean the OS will be "revamped in terms of power"?
...i just wish they didn't have to kill so many lemons to make lemonade...

I mean as far as what it can do and how fast/well  it does it...I still think it'll be on the bottom rung of the smartphone ladder...even though some don't even consider it a smartphone...

ok ok. i kind of get what you are saying.

i still feel like the entire OS, for the most part, will need to be made over. where do you propose a touch input could work within the OS as it stands now? the OS is currently set up for use with the trackball, 4 corner buttons, and send/end keys. there really is no room for touch navigation.

One renovation that would be good is unlocking the os. you cant do ANYTHING with it. No custom anything. And making themes for it sucks. I cant see myself buying another kick. Especially with the lag issues of the lx and 08 in the menu structure. it's so irritating.

My guess is that the phone will be a lot thinner, 3g and a 3+ mp camera.  I think the OS will stay the same but will have better support for microsoft documents.  I really doubt they would go for a touch screen because of the whole overhaul of the OS and the fact that a swivel touch screen just sounds like a disaster.

id say that A LOT thinner might be a little too much to ask for because of the swivel and the keyboard. maybe around the size of the 2008 or a little thinner would be doable. 3G and 3MP cam seem fair. i agree that the touch screen might just be a little bit too much to ask for. im not really sure the SK series needs a touch screen. as you can see, a lot of SK users are using the G1 now so those that wanted the touchscreen have got it now. as far as the OS goes, touchscreen or not, i would say its going to change a fair amount. with microsoft running things now it would make sense for them to change it at least a little. nothing like an overhaul, but some changes throughout.

I think the best changes would be 3g, WiFi, Louder speaker, 3.5mm, Better browser, Faster OS performance, Larger higher res screen, and At least LX size battery(1540 i believe.).
Touch screen may be too much. Might I be asking for too much to fit this into the Sidekick 2008 body (lol)?

everything you said sounds like pure genius. I don't care so much about the size though. As long as it has 3g, a better browser, and better call quality, i'm happy.

im thinking wi-fi's too much to ask for. ya it would have been in t-mobiles interest to get as many phones with uma but u cant have a phone with both uma and 3G so i doubt they will include wi-fi just for kicks.

im almost 100% positive it will have a touch screen since its new competition, the Quickfire, has a touch screen and because it has one its being advertised as being better then a sidekick.

i just remembered, wtf happened to the Sidekick FX and MX??

I got rid of my Kick(LX) and promised that I would never get a phone like that again....At first it was all fun and everything and then it just became sooo boring...Especially because the OS is so locked down you can't really do anything. I am soo glad I got rid of my Sidekick and am wayy happier with my iPhone. Sidekick is good for AIM and texting thats about it.
