hmmm i dont know. a touchscreen would add a huge depth to the phone. and i hope they dont make it to childish like the latest model. i want it to be more "professional" looking. im kind of in the middle with how its opens. i like the swivel but i think there are more options you can look at

LOL there is nothing professional about a phone that makes the "aim someone just signed on door opening sound". I would think it would be near impossible for a business person to carry around a sidekick and be taken as "professional" unless he/she was the designer of the phone.

Well I don't think it would be "Professional" as it is marketed for the Teens and Young adults. If you want Professional pick up a REAL Smartphone such as a Blackberry or iPhone.

I've never had a black berry, are they any good? suretype just looks like a pain in the ass though, and the full keyboards are so cramped. My dad has one for work and he hates it, he has the 8830. I'm still holding out for a date on the samsung android. :)

Yea I actually could type faster on my Blackberry Pearl 8100 which was my first Blackberry. I really love Blackberry's they are nice phones. can't wait for the 8900 (Curve II) You should definitely check out the Curve 8320 or the Curve II(Coming out Feb. 11 for personal accounts and January 19 for business customers which is tomorrow).

Yeah, I liked my pearl when I had one.  I liked it more than the Storm.  The Storm is nice, and kind of cool,  but typing gets annoying on it.  I'd hope the Sidekick will be able to compete with other texting phones.  However, if it were me, I would consider blackberry, g1, or any any other smartphone, just because of the cost of the new data plans (they are all the same basically).

Or a Windows Mobile phone! ;D

SureType sucks for typing out irregular words and the like. Some people can type faster with SureType than a QWERTY keyboard but I don't like putting my trust into predictive text.

If the next Sidekick were to have a touchscreen, it would have to be as big as the LX. Touchscreens have to be at least 3'' in size to not be a PITA. The Sidekick 2008's screen size is too small for a touchscreen but there could be 2 Sidekicks. One flagship device with a touchscreen. Then there's the lower-end device without a touchscreen. I also think that the OS needs to be redone for a portrait orientation because it's just awkward trying to use a device in landscape orientation most of the time.

I'll have a long and winded rant on Sidekicks later on when I can think of more problems with that platform. Having some writers block right now.

Yea I won't be going back to a Sidekick device until they have a better more professional OS like the Blackberry or iPhone or even better ANDROID!

I'm talking about edge on a kick. Edge on a kick is bad, because all you can view are those worthless mobile sites that don't really tell you a whole lot of anything on one page, you have to go through like 8 pages of information to get what you really wanted. I really want to see what is going to happen with the palm pre..it's interesting. I think I will just stick with tmobile..I think that there 3g network will out grow sprint in the future.

Tmobiles 3g is good too.  Verizon's "3g" will always be the biggest, but 3g is dying already.  4g is the way to go in Europe.  It is really sad that we are just rolling out 3g across the nation while those darn Europeans are establishing their 4g networks.  The palm pre looks nice, and the OS looks good (with some major Apple influences and corrections to the iPhones mistakes).  From what it looks like, the keyboard should be pretty nice.  I wonder if Tmobile will ever get one.

Edge is pretty nice on the iPhone kickstar, but it is no 3g.  Nothing is better than wifi though, why can't more phones have wifi?  I love it on all my phones that have it.

I wonder if the new sidekick will use that new UI that Microsoft is working on.  They did say it is meant for winmo devices and their non smart phone devices.  It looks like it could be interesting, but would require a touchscreen, maybe not a huge one, but a touch screen.  The more I think about it, the more I think the sidekick will look more like an HTC touch pro, just Microsoft designed, than the classic sidekick design.

Agree's*, and also wifi is just way more convenient, they should implement it in more phones, especially since t-mobile has H@H, it would be a double positive, since they're already using how spot for like Cellular VO-IP calls.

No I mean making a folder on the sdcard, and downloading the theme/ backgound code and the code for the sound u want for when u close or open the screen just google sidekick backgound or theme hack.

Yea well maybe I don't notice it because I live in NY with a lot of T-mobile towers but my EDGE WAS pretty fast on the LX.

Also I HATED the SIDEKICK browser. Seriously sidekick needs some real improvements.
