i would also like to see wifi
and uma with 3g since i think this could be a phone that uses both
I agree, that would be perfect, and not asking for too much

I think the best changes would be 3g, WiFi, Louder speaker, 3.5mm, Better browser, Faster OS performance, Larger higher res screen, and At least LX size battery(1540 i believe.).
Touch screen may be too much. Might I be asking for too much to fit this into the Sidekick 2008 body (lol)?

Rumor (yes, 100% rumor) has it that the next sidekick WILL indeed have 3G! I'm excited

Do you think the new sidekick will compare to the Nokia N97?
I am sure it will not be as good, but hopefully close .
I am hoping the sidekick design wll head towards the direction of the device.

If sidekicks were made by Nokia or HTC, you might have a shot at that.  As it is though, they will probably keep with their standard messaging phone design.  I would like to see a touchscreen though, and something better than the Quickfire.  Slimmer too would be nice, but that won't happen with a nice keyboard.

I can live without a touch screen. Believe it or not, I dont really like touch screens. I could take them or leave them. I just think they need to make the sidekick design a little more appealing.
The Wing, G1 and sidekick have no bling to them.
The nicest looking phone we have is the Rokr E8.  8)

Our phones need some polish and shine to them - dont ya think?

the N97 doesnt impress me. i think its late to the game for wat it is. on paper, it blows the HTC Touch Pro and X1 away, but i dont think it will in functionality. the fact that the N97 has only a 3 row keyboard will keep me away from it. to me, the touch pro is better then the X1. the only main advantages the N97 has over the touch pro is the camera and the large screen. the camera isnt the main selling point so it isnt that much of an advantage. the touch pro has TF3D which is straight up amazing. it also has one of the full keyboards on a phone. some will like the fact that the N97 has a large screen and some will appreciate the pro's scroll thing. it depends on personal taste.
but when u think when the touch pro was released and when the N97 will be released (probably in the next 2-4 months), the touch pro wins.

as for the upcoming sidekick resembling the N97 is a no. they're 2 COMPLETELY different phone with very different form factors.

I agree about the form...I dont take issue with the form of the sidekick.
I am talking about the appearance. Look at all the HTC phones....sleek ,jet black and polished. The G1 / sidekick looks like a car with no window tint. Am I Making any sense?
I would like to say again, rokr 38 is a great example of what I am talking about.
Sleek black...very colorful light up numbers etc/flashy screen design...its a sharp looking devise. The G1 and sidekicks are like boring building blocks.

First off, I agree with your arguments since I love the HTC design forms.  However, the G1 is an HTC product.  Likewise, the Samsung behold matches the design scheme your looking for, the new Samsung Memoir will match that too.  I'm going to guess though that you will want a messaging phone since you want to see a nice looking sk.  Hey, I would love to see a sleek sidekick just as much as the next text happy person, but you may want to look more at the upcoming HTCs, maybe like the new wing.
The sidekick is going to really need to pick up its game to compete in this market, they aren't going to want to be like the N97 (where it will be outdated by the time it is released)

the N97 isnt even out yet and its already outdated. lol

well i agree and disagree. basically what u want is a fingerprint magnet. i actually dont mind the look of the G1. its kind of funky and i like it. i agree though about the sidekicks. they looks like they came form 2006. im hoping moto comes out with a TRUE successor of the rokr e8. bigger screen, thinnest phone of all time, next generation mode shift keyboard (making it more interesting), more functionality, 3G, 3G, 3G, 3G, better specs and 3G.
i see lots of potential with the rokr phones. maybe they can go the nokia way how they made they xpress mucis 5800. make an all touch multimedia powerhouse that really does, rok! <--- (hint hint, yes, an upcoming t-mobile phone) jk. i have no sources. :'(
wouldnt that be a cool phone eh?

anyways, back on topic.

I actually have the Behold, and I am very satisfied with it. But its nothing in comparsions to the Omina-which is the same model with more kick. Why do we get the crap one ? Anyway....my main focus is on camera, messaging and most importantly music. I hope we can bring the 5800 or an exclusive Moto or Nokia music killer.

The Omnia is nothing like the Behold. The Behold is a feature phone. The Omnia is a smartphone running WM 6.1 Professional. There's a huge difference. The Omnia has a 624 MHz and 128 MB of RAM. It also has 8 GB/16 GB of storage. Just because the Behold and Omnia share the TouchWiz UI does not mean that they are the same phone.

The new Sidekick does at least need to have 3G. A touchscreen is nice but I fear that the touchscreen implementation would be screwed up anyhow. There is a market for non-touchscreen phones. Look at the Bold and E71 (different phones in different categories than Sidekick, but there's still a market). The Sidekick needs to have a new UI also. It's been running the same old UI since the first Sidekick launched in 2003. Well at least give it a refresh like RIM did with the 4.6 OS with new icons to make the UI look new and spiffy.

]I know they are not the same phones. That was my point..Version got the Omnia, Sprint got the Instinct and T-mobile got the Behold.
All same design, and use touchwiz. But out of the 3 which is the worst?
Thats my point.

lol it better be good. i remember watching a review on the latest sidekick and they said that t-mobile had the right idea, but the sidekick was still a weak phone compared to other phones similar to the sidekick. i also remember them saying that this phone can have so much more and possibly be the dominant phone that tmobile needed. they need to go past there limit and make this phone excel. i think a touchscreen is probably what they needed for this phone. with it, plus 3G it will compete with phones like the lg voyager or the samsung glide

The major competitor is the LG Voyager, that is in my opinion and many others.  If they can't at least match the voyager then it won't be a good device.  It doesn't necessarily need a touchscreen, but I would enjoy one.  At the very least, it needs to be better than the quickfire.
