Yeha the razr is so old skool!  I wasnt working when T sold the T610 SE, I wouldnt mind getting my hands on some SE phones though...

I had the SE T610 for years.  When I finally upgraded I gave it to my daughter.  She had it in her backpack and someone stepped on it and broke the screen. :(  It was a very good phone though.  The e-mail client even worked!!

Has anyone else in sales or customer care seen a lot of warranty issues with the W490s?  I've actually sold a ton of them because it does have a lot of features at a fairly low price.  Especially when people see they can get it for roughly the same price as a RAZR V3.  I've only had one customer so far that had to get theirs replaced under warranty, but the customer care rep at that time said TMo has had a lot of issues with them.

I love my PEBL, but it's a couple of years old, and I've got my eye on the Nokia 5610 now.  I preferred the PEBL to the RAZR but it obviously never took off.

I had a customer come in once and said they dropped it and the screen didnt work.  i told him that since he dropped it, physical damage is not covered under and would more than likely have a $100 oow cost.  So he just bought a new one.  I then turned around and tried sending to Motorola and would pay to have it fixed.  In the end Motrola lost the phone and was obligated to send me a new one - but they sendty the WHIOLE package, including the retail box!  I game out ahead in the scene!!

So you used a customers old phone to get yourself a new phone?  Am I reading that right?  For some reason, that just doesn't sound right....shouldn't those go back to be reconditioned and resold or something?

I've had one Mort phone ages ago and it never gave me any problems. And as for the Peble, I heard they were coming out with the Peble2? And you could sync it with Windows Media Player. Anyone  heard of this?

No.  The phone was left to be thrown away since it was garbage. - i mean recycled - I took the phone home as a parts phone, but when I realized a couple weeks later when I got to it, it was perfectly fine cosmetically in and out.  So I decided to see if Motorola would fix it, and at what cost.  I piad the shipping to send it in.  They lost it and decided to give me a new one.  I had to place the phone calls on my own time and talk with motos representatives.  This was never done on company time.  I also work as an indirect if that clears anything more up.

Doesn't matter. Tons of employees do that with any carrier. I have had friends in T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, etc. If the customer "throws" it away, then you can whatever you want with it. It's the customer's fault for not taking it to the manufacturer, not yours.

That just seems shady to me.

But then I come from a large well known national retailer also, where I was in management.  If we were to ever do anything like that (instead of either shipping it back or actually tossing it) then we'd be in danger of losing our jobs.

I'm just a little surprised, is all.  I guess whatever works, though...

My first phone was the SE T610. I liked it alot.
It was very sturdy, stylish, very easy to use and
alot of setting could be altered. Once it expired I
got the Moto V600 Which was also very stylish
but was not as easy to customize and had alot
of ui flaws. Started breaking down quick.
I still loved taking it out of my pocket though,
with the light up bands around the moto emblem,
the aluminum back and front cover plates and the
nice rich blue display on the outside.
New moto phones are alot more shotty now.
Still have the same ui but seems to be locked
down more. They dont seem to have the same
kick. Ive seen alot of nice looking SE phones
since my T610.

But, still, even when a customer just does not even care to have the phone anymore anyways? I understand if you lie to the customer to convince them that the phone is not able to be fixed in any way, but if the customer just gives it to you to throw away because they just don't want to deal with it...how is that shady?

Like I say, it's just where I come from in retail.  If I had a customer that requested I do something like throw and item away then I was expected to do so.  Or if I was expected to mark something down to zero and toss it then I was to do that, not keep it for myself.

But if the other persons superiors had no problems with their taking that phone (or whatever) and trying to fix it then that's fine that they are able to get a usable device out of it.

I just don't like seeing things go to waste because people are just too lazy to make an effort. If I can solve the problem with a device, then I will. Even if I am not sure if I can, I would make an effort. Plus, I like taking things apart...but, that's just me and my nerdy self.

I do understand your position though. Sucks rules have to be that way some times.

my daughter is going on her third moto w490 since the beginning of the year.  not sure what's going on but each of her first two w490 started the white screen of death...thankfully, the tmosales guy/gal were very helpful in getting a replacement.  anyone had the WSOD with this moto model?

any thoughts on the fact that palm is selling an UNLOCKED GSM centro for $299???
has anyone purchased this pda/phone and insert a tmo sim card?

I'd be tempted to pick up one of the unlocked centro's, but I just think they are too small for my hands and I wouldn't be able to use the keyboard like on my other Treo's.  I think it's not a bad buy, and it's a really popular little device.

The Centro doesn't appeal to me because it is the same old Palm device in different packaging. But the unlocked Centro should do okay for your daughter tmoguy. She'll like the full keyboard if she texts a lot.

I am think about "no more nokia" because they refuse to produce AWS 3G phone anymore after 3555
and one of the principal: no AWS 3G, no deal
don't tell me to go to att for 3G phone (I have that already)

I'm sure Nokia will produce more AWS phones. It looks like that they don't believe that the market for AWS handsets isn't big enough right now and they would like the 3G in their AWS handsets advertised. Plus 5310 and the 6310 are probably selling better than 6263 ever did. If the 6310 hasn't passed the 6263 yet, it will within the next 3 months. 5310 is a nice hit for Nokia on T-Mobile.

Not bai-bai, but yes. We do need some new, fresh, super egotistical phones for T-Mobile.
