When did you call? I called yesterday and they're sending me one.
Everything I tell you is a lie...
Except that, and that, and that...
And that.

if there is a new battery, I hope it isn't like the Shadow fiasco.  I'm so not putting a "mighty hump" on my G1.

I wouldn't count on anything like this without adding a big bump to the back of your phone.

On a side note, there's no need to yell ;)

^^ Agreed..
And honestly the battery isn't that bad if you train it and turn off things you don't need (well for me at least).. definatly not bad enough to "yell" on a forum lol

on top of geting yelled at, it bothers be deeply to have to see such poor use of the abbreviation for New England.
I for one, wish people would stop being lazy about actually spelling words.  Isn't there something in the rules about that?

I spoke to the smartphone techs and they told me that it was an issue that they were working on and that HTC is working on getting "new improved" batteries to G1 owners.  They had no timeline but they said that we would be getting a new battery in the future.  They also refused to send me a new battery.
Lovin' T-Mobile since it was Voicestream!

well if you turn off some of the stuff you dont use all the time, like GPS and using the network to locate you, and in my case 3G and wifi since im not in a 3G area most of the time, im able to get a full day out of my G1 with no problems, and thats with moderate to heavy usage, just depends on the day.

Now i always plug mine in at night, because i use it for work and am on call and cant find myself with a dead battery, but usually im between 20-30% when i plug it in.

i didnt do any training, or any of the other stuff people say to do.

training doesn't do anything for lithium batteries, so you didn't need to

what i'm curious in though, is having the option of wireless networks finding you, you say it uses your battery? what about when you're not using maps or other location-based software?

I have 3G off, wifi always on (turns itself off when phone has been idle for awhile), network location always on (I don't think this drains battery at all if maps or similar isn't open), GPS always on (same reason)

The "training" process people talk about really isn't training the battery, but the meter inside the phone.

People noticed early on that when the phones are fresh out of the box, they seem to go from 100% to very little % pretty quick. Some noticed that the first time when they ran the battery all the way down to the point where the phone would no longer turn on that they spent a LOT of time at 1% before it went dead.

After doing a complete charge/discharge cycle once or twice on the phone, they report that the percentage left on their meter is higher than it used to after ~ the same much use.

I don't have any info from HTC to say it's true, but doing it did seem to work for me. The first couple days I was down to about 50% by noon after taking my phone off the charger at 8am. After going through a couple complete cycles with the battery, I'm showing much more of a charge left at the end of the work day. (50-70% on an average day, as opposed to about 20-30%)
