New G1s come with 3.5mm adapter

My store received a new shipment of black G1s in 2 days ago.  I was setting one up for a customer today and noticed that it now comes with a 3.5mm adapter.  Its similar to the nokia adapters has the answer button and microphone on it and the headphones plug into that..  Haven't tried one yet but they are available with the new ones.

So if I got mine long ago and did not get a 3.5 mm adapter then would I be able to get one?

Yeah, any info about acquiring one of these adapters would be greatly appreciated.

yeah that kind of sucks though I already paid like $10 bucks for mine I guess If a freebie is available I can save the $5 plus shipping that I see em for now on my wifes G1.  Penalties of being a loyal supporter and purchasing the day something comes out.... x-(

Yeah, I am very surprised that it includes the microphone and answer button.  Very nice.  I wish they would send these to customers who bought their units earlier.  I like my adapter, but I can't use the phone to talk with it and wouldn't mind having one like this with a built in microphone.

Well the first part was the rumor.  The second part was an assumption.  I doubt it will happen to be honest.  The bottom line is that you (and I) bought the phone knowing there was no headphone adapter.  Neither T-Mobile or HTC have a responsibility to give you one just because they are now selling it included with one.

I talked with customer care and the rep said that they won't send one out.  The best option I could say would be to go into your local store and see if they have extras from a return or something.

Yeah.... Once you get it, you've got what you got. They *might* decide to send out adapters to people who ask for it, but it's not a given.

It's not all that uncommon for suppliers & manufacturers to change specs or included accessories from time to time.

There's always that b**** of a disclaimer "specs and accessories subject to change without notice".

Sucks to be shafted, but that's the way it is.  The store I went to today didn't even have any for sale.

3.5mm adaptor

with standard 3.5mm jack headphone which plugs into the adaptor which plugs into the phone
so any standard headphone can be used with the adaptor i guess

anyone interested in selling the one that is now shipped with the newer phones?

From what I've heard we're working on this.  For now, they're not available for order via Care, but when they are (or whatever means we come up with to get them out the door), I'll post about it.  Should be relatively soon.

I think an update is due, but sadly it's not much of one: We're still waiting on the adapters and for a process to order/ship them.

We know new G1s are shipping with the adapter in the 'kit'. This isn't my area of expertise, but I believe the G1 kits are assembled and shipped to us in bulk from HTC. This being the case, we don't have these adapters laying around. From what I can tell we are still trying to get our hands on some adapters. Once we get them, we will be able to send them out to those who didn't get one in the box.

Sorry it's not more, but we haven't forgotten about this.

I'd be willing to pay like $5 in store for one, maybe even $10.  The only "official" one I can find online is a fat 3 way one for around $15 then I gotta pay shipping too.

I confirm that the newer ones come with the adapter. And ugly one if I may add. I got my first g1 wen the 1st batch went out oct 21 then tmobile sends me another nov 10th that I never ordered.  Both times they charged me the discounted rate of 214.93 sooo I'm keeping both.
I can send a pic of the adapter to any doubters.  Just post ur email. Or email me at trillistic@gmail.com

Hopefully the 2 replacement g1s on the way to my house contain them can't wait til next week I really hope the white one comes then my black will be going back. (Mom getting exchange really liked mine and my stepdads g1's, stepdads batter horrible  they can't send just battery because we are still in buyers remores)
