Ok.. i now have google maps installed on my samsung behold.. i want to thank my patience.. and the internet for making this happen! i have not tested this method with any other java applications, i have no idea if the gps works.. im just writing up this tutorial so that maybe it will help others tinkering with the behold. now i can only assume the version of google maps i've installed is an other version because im not getting any options for GPS, if i find a new version i will link it in this thread. Mods, please sticky this thread. I will do my best to answer an questions i can in this thread and if you screw up im sorry. THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK and i am NOT RESPONSIBLE for bricked phones. :D

1. first, you need to download TkFileExplorer v2.2, i found it at this link http://www.forummobiles.com/lofiversion/index.php/t184647.html

now there is a link that says " cette archive rar "   click that link it will download.

2. next step is to unzip the file you download, then unzip " SAMSUNG_Composite_USB_Driver_4_34_WHQL "

3. run the setup in the folder you just extracted, this will install a new samsung driver that will not interfere with Samsung PC Studio 3, you will need to make sure that you do not have PC Studio 3 loaded for the next part.

4. now run "TkFileExplorer_2.2", this should load up the program. go to settings > com. click on the down arrow for "port" select the port listed. now go to file >  connect. now as long as your phone is not connected to PC studio or as Mass Storage you should now be viewing the internals of the T919. yay!

5. now on the phone side go to /Exe/Java/Games, make a new folder named after whatever you are planning on installing. for instance i was making Google Maps. If you have a game you've downloaded put the .Jar/.Jad files in the folder you made. now you might be asking yourself at this point "where can i get the .Jar/.Jad files for Google Maps?" follow this link, http://www.getjar.com/products/15897/GoogleMapsformobile i chose " Samsung F490 " as it was the closest model listed that i recognized. this is STILL an older version of Google Maps and does not support GPS or Touchscreen from what i can tell. im still looking for a newer version.

6. now at this step you've put the files in the right folder and its time to install the program, from the dial pad type : *#6984125*# , now you're in the admin settings, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. go to Internals, now you're prompted for a Master Key, *#9072641*# , now go to Storage Settings and Update Java Db.

7. congrats you should now have whatever you installed listed under the applications tab

edit to update version of Google Maps download found.

Great info, but man what a hassle. T-Mobile should not make it that difficult to install popular apps.

if you want to use it for just looking up locations, it works fine. im going to try out a few more builds and see if i can find one that will interact with the gps. im used to the version that is on the g1, which is full screen, touch, and gps capable. now... the version i have posted up above will triangulate your location based on towers, newer versions i've located have not had that feature... its my understanding that the different versions i find that are capable of downloading manually are going to be based on the phone they were originally designed for.. exp.. if i download version 2.3.2 which is the newest build.. but it was designed for a samsung slider phone with no gps or touchscreen that it will infact work the same on the touch.. no gps or touch.. so.. right now im looking for a touchscreen version, with gps.       ill keep anyone posted that interested.. i was really hoping to replace my g1 with something smaller for the camera/gps function so im working hard to make this work!

i appreciate your hard work man...thanx for everything you've found so far...i do mainly use it for just looking up places and getting their phone numbers (its faster than actually going to google and doing a search), but would love to have the functionallity of the gps and touch screen. also, how do you give some one karma cause you deserve it for this find.

im not quite sure.. i would assume it would... i have whatever webplan is needed.. im actually an employee so.. i dont have to pick a specific web plan for web to work on any of tmobiles phones.

im fully aware this is a pain in the ass.. but its the only way at this time to do what a lot of people are requesting... as for setting it up so it doesnt ask you for pc studio or mass storage.. its under your settings menu, phone settings, usb...  set it up for pc studio by default.. and just make sure you dont load the program on windows when you try to run TkFileExplorer

I've tried to do this twice and it's not working. Maybe someone can help me.. I went through every step twice and it just doesn't show up in my applications > games and apps. Is anyone else running into this problem?

xtjoeywx  - I had the same PROB!! then figured i had to update the applications also(scroll down to the bottom below update java). That should fix it up for you!

inebriat3d-Does this require the internet? I do not have a data plan :(

I havnt found the gps version yet. this method works great with games. you just have to get a .jad maker. I loaded up at least 20 games but they are hard to play with such small buttons  and a mixed up key pad. does anybody know where to get touchscreen games? I use mobile9.com for games but no touch ones even though they say they are for the t919.
