Do not worry, if the OS does not allow card installation real quick, a lot of people will stop going to the market- so no complaining by default.  Brilliant!!!!

The again, if rubes are simply just replying and not trying the app, they are the same dorks that camp in multiplayer shooters.  Lame.

The market should not allow comments unless you install the app- first.

You can't rate and review an app until you have downloaded it. I suppose the market will eventually fix itself when most apps go paid. Right now any moron can  go ahead and download then write something witty like "First!" I would imagine that when an app costs a buck or whatever it will cull the jerks who insist on posting a snarky comment to EVERY SINGLE APP.

I've commented on a couple apps, only ones that I liked... I wrote a review on Pictorial stating that it didn't work with a hyphen in the email address and changed it AND gave it a higher rating after the author updated.

I don't even read the comments. Most people are just haters anyway. If I download it and don't like the app its only a tap ,tap, and a tap away from being deleted anyway

This is true now, but it won't be when apps cost money.  I'm not buying a $5 app if I can't read at least a few decent user comments on it first.  There needs to be leeway with what you can post, not just multiple choice, but at the same time, there needs to be a report function with some people assigned to moderate those posts that are reported for being vulgar, insulting, racist, or just useless (FIRST!!!).  As stated earlier, I think if a person is reported for these violations several times, they should be banned from commenting.  This would be rather easy for Google to implement since you have to be logged into your Gmail account.

It's just proof that a large percentage of G1 upgrades came from the teenage, sidekick crowd.

My favorite one is the "Pray" app.  Someone posted "Notice catholism [sic] is the only religion 'peddling their wares'?  This faith is about as useful as this app.  Does it include child molestation pamphlets?"

I was thinking of posting a review for the Bible app:

"SPOILER ALERT!  Jesus dies at the end!  And then rises!"

I thought that would have been funny, but I was too lazy to actually D/L it and review it.

Funny, but all that happened long before the end.  ;)

The problem with Bible apps (aside from taking up space on the sd card) is that most translations in the public domain are not good for any kind of scholarly study.  As great a piece of historic English literature as the King James version is, we've discovered much older MSS since it was translated...and most modern translations are corrected by them.

I would assume comments are tied to gmail accounts or some other unique identifier. We simply also need to be able to rate the comments themselves, which in turn would rate the commentators. Pretty soon, you can filter to only see comments from commentators with non-negative ratings. They do that for some blog comments.

They really do need to expand the amount of information allowed for product information, like sub-sections for a full description, screenshots, version history, support info, etc. If you check out the android.com website, they offer much better info on market place apps. It seems like google only allows for a small amount of product description text since I see some programmers replace the product description text with support info. It's kind of frustration trying to figure out what a product does when the description says, "This new version fixes xxxx and yyy. Give it a try!" Okay... what does it do??!!!

It's comments like this that got this thread started.  Posting something like that would serve no purpose and not help anyone out in any way.

I'm glad that they allow users to leave any comments they please. Cause for 1 i hate censorship. It does suck that people have to say F'd up crap, but at the same time it makes me feel good. Since i love Freedom and all.

I finally got fed up today after reading some horribly insulting comments and having seen this new spammer spamming his G1profiles site on every single app.  I went to the Android Market message boards and posted this comment:

Quote
Like taa, I came here today simply to post this request.  It gets worse and worse as the market grows larger and is becoming a huge annoyance to me.  The comments range from just plain stupid (ie "First") to spam (ie "www.g1profiles.com" that is spamming every app now) to downright extremely offensive racial and sexual slurs and comments.  This is completely unacceptable.  I'm sure there are children who use this phone and browse the market, and if I were a parent, I would be horrified to see my kid looking at some of these comments.  Google needs to take some responsibility here and implement ANY type of system to get rid of useless comments and ratings.  The above idea is one good idea if Google doesn't want to take the time to monitor the comments themselves.  Also, I think we need a way to report certain posters who post very offensive things (that I won't dare repeating here).  These need to be reviewed by Google and there are people that need to be banned from commenting in the Market.  I would really like to see one of the Google representatives here chime in as to whether or not there are any plans to implement any type of system to help prevent this garbage.  I think the whole belief Google seems to have that people will only make appropriate comments on their own is just ridiculous and you need to start taking responsibility for your Market or this will be a factor that will ruin it for a lot of people.  I don't offend easily, but have become very offended by some of these comments.  Let's not forget that it is now impossible to find any useful comments so I'm blindly downloading apps without really knowing other user's impressions on them first.  This will become a much bigger deal when I'm expected to pay for some of these eventually.  So what is the plan here Google?

If anyone would like to chime in and further show Google that we want a solution to this problem, you can add your opinion here:

who cares...i think it's hilarious, posting "Stupid kike app" for a muslim app.  these stupid reviews are probably the best thing on android.

You're probably the one making the stupid comments.

I just dont like that sometimes I think that people that are making the comments about apps have not even tried them...kinda pisses me off. when I go on the market it would be really nice to know if some apps work or not beacuse some apps are a wast of time and suck ( stobe light, and one of the flashlight was kinda gay) I dont know but it really makes me mad to know that people go on there and make rasict comments  that have nothing to do with any thing, the comments are for users to rate the apps after using them, not to just rant about the ressions you would not use them, but I do agree that some of them are freaking funny

*edit, actually, i only put in half a tank, so $1 and we'll call it even.

You know the whole gay thing is kinda pissing me off, I have been saying things are gay ever since I knew what a gay person really was and in my opinion its not shooting fun at the gay community, when a person says " this blows" people dint think of a person preforming oral sex...I for one have nothing against gays, kinda freaks me out but what makes people happy makes them happy, however things should not have to change just because of there insecurities
