not at all. I haven't at all. and if anything T-mobile should be thinking about it. I mean I'm the biggest die hard sidekick fan. and the sidekick lx is like the best so far.. even better now with the new updates.. 3G would be a very welcomed addition to any sidekick. but knowing T-mobile I really doubt well be gettin anything like tht anytime soon

That would be a lot of Sidekicks released in a short period of time.  I hope they come out with a new 3G Sidekick soon after the 3G launch.  If that does happen though, we would have released Sidekick LX, Slide, 2008, and 3G all within about a year.  I imagine a lot of people who keep buying the newest one would get annoyed.  I guess that's the way it goes in tech though.

I'd expect the next Sidekick to have UMA and 3G.  It's weird that T-Mobile doesn't have a UMA Sidekick. I think T-Mobile should make as many phones UMA capable as possible.

i second that uma standard. t-mobile has been pushing uma on so many mid-range phones, why havent they done it for the sidekick?

I agree with that.  I just think in general we need to start coming out with a lot more UMA phones.  I still think the service is so unique and useful.  It is just so hard to get people to use because nobody has a UMA phone already and there are so few available for them to choose from.

Soon as they come out with a 3G Sidekick with Wifi (&H@H); the competition would be over!!! I mean everybody is gonna run to T-Mobile form the other carriers. Oh yeah, and slightly better camera quality, a real flash, and better, and bigger video quality & resolution will be icing on the cake.

a 3G/WiFi sidekick with 3.2 megapixel with VGA video and VGA screen would bring tens of thousands of people to t-mobile in mere months

Except people want a little more in their phone these days. Such as the ability to install third+party applications. But I still see the Sidekick as a device meant for kids, as in "kiddy". The Sidekick still may have that reputation with people and it would be hard to get over that reputation of the SK ever gets decent features.

Yeah it would b nice if they did get som of that stuff. But til then ill prolly never buy another sk cuz I hate the lack of not being able 2 really customize the fone with my ring tones ect. Which is y I can't wait 2 get the android, omni, e71, or wat ever good fone we end up with.

Exactly.  To me, a SK is for kids.  It might be a nice precursor to an actual PDA phone, which would obviously allow the installation of 3rd party stuff (besides games and ringers...).  The SK has pretty much been 'typecast' in the role of kids and young adults, in my opinion of course.

Personally if I were in charge, I wouldn't change the Sidekick at all with regards to making it more like a traditional PDA.  It may be geared towards kids and young adults, but it really has that market cornered well.  There is not a phone brand more well known to that market with any company and there are lots of people willing to spend lots of money on the newest Sidekick every time it comes out.  The inability to install your own apps brings in a lot of money for T-Mobile.  I see the bills of people with Sidekicks and they spend a lot of money buying ringtones, games, and customer Sidekick Apps.  A very large amount of people pay us $2.99 every month to have the MySpace app on their Sidekick.  I say leave it pretty much like it is and start coming out with a few nicer PDA phones (like expected in the fall) to also grab that market.

With the topic on hand, I think 3G is a necessity on the next Sidekick after the 2008.  I would be surprised if they don't add that.  I really wouldn't expect WiFi or UMA though.  It's not really a feature that would fit with the usuall Sidekick crowd.  Lots of them would probably not use it or really miss it.

if t-mobile can come out with a phone that is 3G and either relative or better than the iphone, but not touch screen, with a the sk like style, then it would all be over for a good while with at&t.

I work for at&t and I've seen ppl just cancel accounts with verizon, sprint, and t-mobile just to get the 3Gi. I want tmobile to come out with something better so I can lose some of the cutomers I deal with over the phone....lol
