No 3g here, but I'd had the phone on and off of wifi. No update as of yet.

It'll get here when it gets here I guess. Kinda too bad there's not an option to d/l it manually though.

Also, I'm pretty sure you'll need your sim card in there to get the update, otherwise T-Mobile wouldn't know where to send it!

I was even logged into a TMo Hotspot all night last night and no update that way either... so no telling how they are sending the update out.

I definitely agree with the person who said you should have the option of getting and downloading the updates manually.  In this case, there aren't any changes that I care about, so the fact that I haven't received my update doesn't bother me.  Later, when they start adding major features (like Stereo Bluetooth, etc) I will be very annoyed waiting over a week to get my update when others already have it.

Also, why is it that Google has now updated twice but is being so quiet, vague, and secretive about what they are updating?  Why not have a release file available on their website with a list of very change in each new version, just like every other program update I'm familiar with?

Why would you need 3G or wifi?  The size should be fine for Edge or standard GSM.

I am not seeing this in any of the literature for the phone.

I think RC28 was a test to see the OTA service working. People who got the RC28 said there was no big change.

RC28 did fix a number of bugs, but also opened a Security vulnerability in the browser, they have stopped sending the RC28, and replaced with RC29 as it rectifies the security hole along with the other intended fixes in RC28.

This info is from the T-Mobile Forums, where the Admin just posted this.

I must agree with all of you. The RC28 was an OTA over Air test and it looks like it's not working so good. By this time they should have a link to us where we can just go and download the update. Even though it's not going to make a lot of changes but it should fix some bugs..

It's working great. They stoped sending it on Friday and started to send RC29 yesterday instead. RC29 includes the security patch mentioned above. T-mobile forums has all the info.

In that case, I am glad I haven't received any updates yet. I'd rather wait until they get the security issues and whatever else they need to resolve...resolved before I get mine.

Edit: I'm in Atlanta with 3G.

Still on 19 and I'm smack dab in the middle of downtown Dallas.  I got 3G and wifi out the wazoo and no update yet.

Same here, getting anxious. I was wondering, if you have your phone turned off and charging and your update tries to come thru on your phone but can"t what happens ??? If anyone knows please let me know.....

Got my update this morning, I hadn't noticed any difference till I went to add music to my SD card. When I plugged in my G1 to the USB I got an error "please insert disk". When I go into settings I no longer have the option to use as USB storage. Any one else having this problem?

I have yet to see my phone tell me that there is an update.  What do i need to set to receive updates.  My build number is still kila-user 1.0 TC4-RC19 109652

You don't do anything to recieve updates, they are pushed to you.

We don't know why some people are getting them at time x, some at time y, and some (apparently) not at all (or at least, not yet).

I'm blanketed in both 3G and Wi-Fi, and I'm 'still' on RC28.

I didn't see this mentioned, but if you have AnyCut, you can create a shortcut to Device Info, and it will give you some more details on uptime and such, but near the bottom it shows the last time it successfully checked in, and there is also a button at the very bottom that says "Check for Update" and if you click it, the phone will do a checkin.

This won't get you the update if TMO hasn't set your phone to receive it yet, but it's just some info to see that your phone is checking, and that they just haven't pushed the update out to you yet.

I know that with my LX there was a way to TRICK the ota into coming to your phone...  What I did to get the LX OTA update was shut the phone off, turn it back on and check the "data sent/received" information and if it was increasing rapidly past the KB and into the MB range then it meant you were gonna get the OTA... if it DIDN'T increase and it was stuck at kb's and moving up extremely slow if not at all then what you did was SHUT DOWN (again) and start up the device thus getting a DIFFERENT IP address and after 10 tries or so of doing this I saw the KB was going up fast and quickly became MB (btw this is for RECEIVED data) and then I sat there and sure enough after it reached 12mb's (on the lx took about 20-30 min) it then prompted for the OTA update and it was good to go.

I know obviously that this won't work for the G1 but i'm hoping that by sharing this maybe somebody will understand how to make it work for the G1...  ????
