Yep, you heard it here first on TmoNews Forums!!  Message rates will have a .20/message come August 29th!  If you don't like it, then you can block it!!  Thats right - message blocking is coming.  Heres an excerpt

"Follow these steps if customers want to block unwanted chargeable SMS/MMS messages.
Inform them Message Blocking is scheduled to be available in late July and will be active at the time of the rate increase – stay tuned for more information on Message Blocking Services. "

No offical word on the message blocking on how it will be applied. My guess, it will be done via mytmobile.com.  This should launch at the end of July by the looks of it.  I will keep u all posted with the news!

....unless of course you are on an unlimited text messaging plan.  You might have some issues getting out of contract on that one...

But why would you want to get out of your t-mobile contract anyway?  I'll leave the answer to that as an exercise for the reader. ;)

By using this to break your contract without an ETF, you can jump ship to the iPhone 3G if you want.

So today at work, I did confirm that ETF fees will be waived if you cite the increased SMS rates as your reason. You have to do it within 30 days of revieving your next bill (it will have an insert about the messaging cost increase). BTW, you are ineligible for the ETF waiver if you have unlimited text on your account.

Well yeah....if you have unlimited text then you're kind of not effected by the change in the charge.  That's cool that they are honoring the waiving of the ETF though (without a fight....).

blocking messages is tru will come before august .. all dates point to mid julyish :-D and it will include blocking messages on just one number on your account or a fam time plan.. and from what i can see it will be something we do at cc .. and will be a free feature .. did i say that right? yes a free feature .. and it will not intrupt your message from us etc but will also prevent jamster and things like that also .. and to go further .. once we block the incoming sms .. if you change the service center number on your phone outgoing will no longer work also :-D

Side note about ETF.  if I remember correctly, last time around when they raised teh message rates, a customer had to have text charges on the last 3 bills in order for them to cite the message rate increase to cancel.  Meaning, they had to have paid .15/message at least 1 time on the last 3 bills.  I am pretty sure this was a clause in the waiving of the ETF.
