I am a faithful Blackberry customer.. until the G1 hehe, The one thing that disappoints me is lack of flash player, I ordered 3 G1's for my wife, my son and myself, my son enjoys playing flash games from like miniclip and addicting games. I havent been able to find anyone working on a flash player and was curious about the possibility of one coming to Android/G1?

All I have read is "someone will make it" . That would seem like one of the first apps developed for the OS I would have thought...anyone know of anyone working on it?

Thanks

There really hasn't been any definitive word yet...as with just about everything G1.

Flash is made by Adobe.  It's not an open-source application.  Because of this, every platform on earth as at Adobe's mercy when it comes to getting a Flash player and a plugin for the browser.  I'd suggest contacting Adobe and requesting they get on the ball and release an Android version of the plugin and the player.

There is a free, open-source player for flash files called "gnash."  I'm not sure its level of compatibility with more recent flash content, or how well it works as a browser plugin.  But it's been available for a while on Linux.  I'm not familiar enough with the Android/G1 side of things to know how easy it would be to implement on the phone.

Thanks for the reply BearTard. I will contact Adobe, I suppose if enough people contact them regarding Android, perhaps they will take a look, assuming they havent already.

I know what your saying angelo, I enjoy my BB for what it is. I have tried several internet radio applications for it, none would work as I needed. Jivetalk works good, I have the 8310 so I use the GPS fairly often with Google Maps, Blackberry Messenger, Beyond 411. The internet hasnt been all I wanted from the phone, mainly given its sparatic EDGE connection.. I did install Opera Mini which helped some, but still not really up to a daily use device.

Android looks to be an interesting OS, and perhaps grabbing it at pre sale wasnt the best move on my part as my son is looking for maybe more of a Winmobile device then the G1, but time will tell I imagine.

Calling 800-833-6687 and asking about development of a flash player for Android put the rep into a state of confusion. After explaining what Android was, then spelling it for her I was put on hold while she tried to figure out what it was. She returned to ask me if I meant Android? I said yes.. that landed me back on hold and when she returned to the phone the second time I was told that they do not have a flash player for Android and that if they did it would be on the web page.

Maybe others would like to call Adobe.

I would imagine that someone will work on porting gnash over to Android - I just can't see Android going too long without having some kind of flash compatibility.
