Bluetooth® stereo is not supported

The device does not support Bluetooth stereo headsets.

*#06# does not display IMEI on a call

When a customer is on a call and enters *#06#, the IMEI does not display.

DTMF tones (touch tones) do not work when dialing with the trackball

Customers who are on a call and dial using the trackball cannot use the DTMF tones (touch tones). This prevents the device from entering passwords and codes on automated systems when using the trackball.

Amazon MP3 Web site does not show selected song when using the trackball

When customers use the trackball to navigate the Amazon MP3 Web site, a gray bar highlights the selected song. Sometimes this bar disappears, and the customer does not know what song is selected.

Memory card files are not available when charging

Customers cannot access files on the memory card when they are charging the device with a third-party charger. If the customer uses an MP3 ringtone, the device plays the default ringtone instead.

Message files cannot save to memory card    i think this one will be a big call driver...big big oops

There is no option to save a picture or video file to the memory card from an MMS message.
When saving an e-mail attachment to the memory card, the device may save the file without a file extension. This causes the file to not be viewable on the device.
To work around this issue, ask the customer to forward the message to an e-mail account. The customer can then save the file on a computer.

Note:If the customer tries to save the forwarded file from an e-mail message to the phone memory card, the phone may save the file without a file extension and the file won't be viewable on the phone.

To forward a multimedia message to an e-mail account, follow these steps:

From the Home screen, touch the Applications button.
Touch Messaging.
Touch the message that contains the picture or video.
Press and hold in an empty space in the message.
Touch Forward.
At To, type the e-mail address.
Press the Menu key and touch Send.

E-mail address for a myFaves contact is duplicated

Customers may see a duplicate e-mail address when sending an e-mail to a myFaves contact. The customer may have two phone contacts with the same phone number and e-mail address

Phone icon appears on a myFaves contact

If a customer receives a call from a myFaves contact, a small phone icon displays on the myFaves icon. The customer may want to remove this icon.

This is pretty serious and needs clarification. Since every program you install is onto the memory card, does this mean that you can't run any of those programs when charging? So much for attaching the phone to a car charger and using GPS navigation... Is the battery so good that people only need to charge it when they go to sleep. I guess the alarm with custom sound will not work to wake you up if you're charging the phone. Forget about apps that work overnight, like podcast / news downloaders...

I say to give it a week after launch and there will be freewear apps to correct 90% of this stuff.... plus after you download something ..you would most likely install it perhaps that will make a difference... but again I'm sure it will be corrected soon enough

Except the charging issue would be due to firmware, since that will would imply a circuit change condition if the memory card is gated from access.  This "issue" must be a mistake, since it seems functionally dumb.

How would the device be able to tell if it is a "third party" charger?  Standard USB connector on the device, so unless there is a special dongle-like wire in the OEM version that sends voltage to a special connection on the device, it makes no sense that it would distinguish a charger accept at the minimum power thershold (ie it would fail).

Either you can access the card with any charger plugged in, or you can NOT access the card with any charger at all.

This will be a deal breaker for me, if I can not access the memory card while charging.  I am guessing this is wrong- because it sounds like
a stupid design flaw. :P

My motorola A1200 does this same thing.  If i am charging then some of the applications I've installed won't work and any mp3 ringtones that I use won't work.

This annoys the crap outta me esp if you need to charge the battery alot.

That is silly (the design issue).  Point here is the G1 either works with all chargers or none at all in regards to card access.

To quote the brilliantly insane Algore, the creater of the internet and the Manbearpig, I am serial about this.

The n-gage worked that way and here is why, its sorta like when you plug headphones into a stereo and the sound is rerouted. Normally the phone is 'hosting' the microSD like it is a USB drive, when you plug a USB cable in your computer or (sadly) power adapter is now 'hosting' the USB drive, it is no longer connected to the phone. This made the n-gage far less than useful, this is a -10 if not all out deal breaker for the G1 hardware.

I had an N-gage (first first T-Mobile device for me  :'(), but I recall listening to music while it was plugged in.... unless I am going crazy. :P

Maybe I am.......  :o

So I can dangerously assume that if there is a way to disable the phone as a storge device, I could then access the card while charging?

I still have my N-gage.  That phone was one poor screen orientation and one external card slot away from perfect for its time!  The revision was lame, because it had the same screen, got rid of the mp3 chip, fm radio and stereo.

Long live the original N-gage.....  :D

The ExtUSB has extra pins and a different shape, I'm sure they'll sell a ton of those $25 car chargers when people realize that they can't use any old crap charger.

Good point, so in a way, it IS a dongle compared to standard connections for USB.  Evil HTC.  If they would have put a 3.5 jack on the device I could forgive this.  Damn those extra pins!

this is pretty disappointing to read, as some of these im having trouble believing they would design the hardware like that, its just a bad idea, and if this is the case, and there is no fast fix after launch, these are deal breakers, and i will just send it back and wait for the G2 or if TMO does get the BB Bold ill get that.

GUYS CALM DOWN.

I think what he means is that the memory card cannot be accessed when it's charging through a USB cable. that we've been told before. if it's charging through a computer the memory card can't be accessed. reason why is because it gives access to the computer instead of the phone.

Through a normal charger nothing should happen. this is a step backwards in technology that google/htc wouldn't let happen. so i'd put money down right now that it's just when in the USB cable.

I have an HTC WM6 phone, the MDA already, and this isn't a problem.  I've used both the AC charger (and car charger) and charging via USB to pc and I've never had this problem.  I can't imagine a scenario where HTC would deviate from this.

Then again, it might have to do with the fact it's considered external storage when attached to a PC where as the MDA isn't, it's seen as a mobile device.   So thinking a little more it makes sense that everything would work normally if using the standard AC/car charger.

I'd have to agree, I don't HTC and Google would have designed a phone that would have such a setback to it.

The n-gage does have separate power jack, thats how it got around this problem. I had to go dig it out to see...sorry about that.

But when a usb cable is plugged in, the phone can not see the MMC. I just re-checked.

I also have an MDA and USB mass storage mode is done via a software driver and not a hardware re-route like the n-gage.
