T-Mo Testing 3G In Detroit Market

This may or may not relate to Android.

However T-Mobile Engineers were out testing 3G speeds in the Detroit-metro area. Now, we're not a G1 Launch city (on paper) but this is the second time I've heard that 3G will launch in the Detroit area "sometime in October."

Take it as you will.......but Detroit is a major market for T-Mo and I don't see the market being without 3G for too long.

They must be doing testing of some type in Tampa, FL Too.  I finally see the 3g network.

I live in Shelby Township... looking at the other 3G networks I'm thinking 3G won't reach up here!

I'm also going to Kalamazoo in the fall so bah. Hope they get it out in the Western Mich area very soon!

october 6th now, is 3G active in Detroit???? If so, will Detroit be getting the launch of the G1 on october 22nd? The interactive t-mo coverage maps still has a "STAR" next to Detroit (meaning "coming soon"), ahhhh, someone?? (I originally live in Detroit but up at school now)

I'm going to be in Kalamazoo starting september, does anyone know how long it took T-Mobile to bring EDGE across the state? Or will 3G be faster in its proliferation?

if it doesn't reach Shelby i'll be pretty sad. i live in macomb so i'm right next to you.
and there are a lot of stores and other places that are in Shelby township on hall rd.

i would think that we would be one of the first places they would add 3G too in michigan, after establishing the detroit market.
seeing as though we have a lot of people and our area keeps growing (new schools, houses, mall, and a lot of other things)

T-mobile has a huge market here in Detroit. Its t-mobile stores everywhere and I know a lot of people who have tmobile.  The only place where I can see the 3g signal is deep downtown and off of east 8mile.

I'm not talking about the Detroit metro area, I'm saying I don't think their 3G service will start in Detroit, probably closer to the suburbs to cover their main demo..

ok, so either way...if a market in detroit or a suburb gets 3G, lets say (completely for example!) on october 23rd (day after G1 launch date), will those stores sell the G1 on the 3G launch date (october 23rd in this example???)

We are not getting any more info on when 3G is spreading into other markets until it actually does.  I bet we will have to wait until the end of the year.

Just got my G1, no 3G to speak of yet.
