Currently on classic plan (500 min), but want to switch to Value Plan with unlimited calls. (Use phone for work conference calls a lot from home, been running out of minutes lately, and can't expense the overage charges)

If I buy the Nexus 4 from google play next week, and walk into a tmo store to switch to value plan and get a microsim card, will I be forced to sign a 2 yr contract to switch over to the value plan?
Thanks

You will not be forced to sign a 2 year since you already have a phone to use. But you can always call them to double check, and tell them you already have a compatible phone.

I was just in a TMO store 2 days ago talking about Value plans in 2013.  The store mgr was adamant the Value plan will require a contract (even with BYOD)because "of the low rate".

She may be wrong for sure but it was what she said.

This information is not correct.  Value plan has always required a 2 year contract.  T-Mobile was losing too many customers on Even More Plus.  So they came out with the Value Plan and it does require a contract.  In fact all new postpaid lines require a contract.  If one doesn't want a contract now, they have to go with prepaid.
