Yesterday I went to a TMO Store to upgrade my phone. I have been using the MyTouch 3G slide for the past two years and have been overdue for an upgrade.
I also received a "Loyalty mailer" yesterday where one of the options was to received up to $200 back (rebate/ visa card) if purchasing a new phone.
Anyway - so this is what the amounts were at the end of the day:
- $255.49 in-store payment
- -$200 mail in rebate
- $20 for 20 months Equipment Installment Plan (EIP)
- (Retail price of phone $599 - "not discount eligible")
- Ditched grandfathered plan ($39.99 for 1000 anytime, free N/W, $10 for 1000 texts, $20 for Loyalty Android Data plan, w/ 10% Corporate Discount) for $74.99 Unlimited Value plan (unlimited calls, text, 5g data)
Basically paying $450 total on a new phone doesn't seem right for a long-term TMO customer (10 years), out-of-contract and renewing for 2 years.
Is this the standard deal for customers like me? Or did I get jipped by the dealer? or does this sound about right?
