I've done my research and I have watched the MWC and seen videos and overviews. BUT, I am not impressed at all. My amaze is just as good or even better then the one x s. All that it has is a better GPU and Imagesense. The battery is less then the amaze, plus it's not removable. There is no NFC, which the amaze has. And the screen, really, not HD, when all other phones coming out. The standards of today have really been missed with this new phone. I am not sure why everyone is in love with it, yes it is new, we all like new shinny things, myself include, but really, wake up and look at it, and the specs. Very disappointing. T-Mobile used to get good phones but now, I don't know. I'm waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S 3. This phone is another flop. It doesn't even have quad core. And now it is going to come out and be $300 with contract which is crap, it should be $100. That's all its worth. Oh yeah, no sd card slot. What were they thinking when they made this phone. Yes its thin, but what phone isn't now, and the sense 4.0 is software. Better camera is the only thing that you are paying for.

So am I crazy to see through the smoke and mirrors and see the phone for what it is?

You forgot to say the CPU (S4) is wayyyy improved from the previous generation (S3--which is inside the Amaze). It doesn't matter by the core count. It matters by the architecture, which surpassed Tegra 3's quad-core cpu. So the SoC/processor is just fine. But the other points like the battery is a good argument. Its one thing to ship with a sub-2000mAh battery. But its another thing (and worse) to ship with a weak battery AND not be user-replaceable. So no swapping batteries in this phone. Another thing is no microSD card slot and only giving it a small 16GB embedded storage. Those are the MAIN cons.

Not having NFC isn't a deal breaker, don't really care for it. The screen is fine since its using SAMOLED @ qHD (540p), but yes, 720p would be better. Other than that, the phone will be fine if the contract price is right.

Other than that, yea, i'm waiting for the SGS3 also. Samsung WILL use the best screen and the best chips. Hopefully a microSD slot and a user replaceable battery. Also, hopefully the screen isn't bigger than 4.5". I prefer 4.3". I didn't like how wide the Tmo SGS2 was really.

First thank you for posting. I understand the architecture, good point, but the strides that the quad cores have come to save battery life are tremendous. And with the weak battery that it will come with. I guess it just depends on real world situation for how long the battery will last. The screen size if also preference of user, but all screens should be HD by now, its standard from now on. I actually love a big screen so anything larger then 4.3 is awesome to me. The rumor for the SGS 3 is a 4.8 1080p display with a large battery, and a quad of course with nfc and all that good stuff. Plus super thin. Hope there real.

One X and One S are too completely different devices appearing on 2 separate carriers in the US.  The international One X will be a quadcore (4+1 Tegra 3) device.

The AT&T One X will sport a similar dual core S4 (as the One S does).  Looking at the product page on HTC's US site, both phones will feature 16 Gigs of internal whereas the international One X has 32 Gigs...

The Amaze, Sensation and One S sound similar on paper but really are not-this is the reasoning behind HTC's focus on quality vs quantity philosophy developed for 2012.  As J-Hop pointed out, the One S has a completely different engine under the hood than the Amaze.  In addition, HTC is using an Amoled screen vs their SLCD2 tech and the One S will be significantly thinner than the Amaze (I had one).

I haven't seen a pentile up close so I am curious to know the difference between the One S' qHD display vs my Sensation XE's qHD SLCD...

Hopefully it is an April launch, if so we can expect demo units on the floor sometime in late March(?) hopefully.

Yea, let us know how the two screens look next to each other once the One S is on live display demo.

We were referring to the Sensation's SLCD vs the One S' pentile Amoled screen, not the screen size of the One series but rather the technology behind the One S compared to that of the Sensation or Amaze (Sensation XE was mentioned as that is what I currently own).

I am a huge fan of HTC which is why i choose to get the One S versus anything Samsung. I don't need all the extra storage space on my phone.

I'm enjoying it immensely!
