how does phone upgrades work on a family plan line?

I'm on a family plan of 4 lines.  its been 3-4 years since i had a phone upgrade. using that best buy tracker, i just found out my contract has been renewed in nov'11 to end in nov'13. I'm not the primary account holder or person in charge of billing, my mother is. and im currently living in a different state from her.

am i entitled to any phone upgrade discounts? I'm looking to get the nokia 710 for $50. is it easier to do in person at the store or on the phone? i have no clue on how upgrades work

all i know is i have $50 right here that I'm willing to drop for that phone.

but for someone reason I'm thinking my mother used my line for her new phone. I'm guessing why she hasn't got back to me. lol

If the line has been renewed, it won't be ready for a full discount for 22 months, which sounds like it would be sep'13.

That would depend on what the renewal was for.  If it was for a plan change, then it shouldn't affect the upgrade eligibility since they are separate things.  If it were from an upgrade, then yes you'll have to wait 22 months before you are eligible for an upgrade again.  For example, I made a change to my plan in December, which extended my contract, but I am still eligible for an upgrade as of the middle of this month(last upgrade was March of 2010).  Of course, once you upgrade, your contract is still extended from the time of your upgrade.

Hmm...that's odd.  By any chance, are you on either an Even More Plus or Value Plan?

Yes. I see a contract end date but that is not your upgrade date. OK they must have gotten rid of the handset upgrade date because mine says i'm eligible but an end contract date of 9/7/2013.
