I am with Tmobile for more than 2 years now. I am on Even more plus plan and my contract ended 2 months before.. I called them last week to get information on upgrade, etc.
I spent atleast 3 to 4 hours and spoke to 4 representatives. At the end of all this, the last CSR told me this :
a, only option that I have is to go to Value plan. I pay for the phone and get cheaper monthly bills + 2 yr contract.
b, I CANNOT go to classic plan and get full discount on phones. I have to terminate the line, wait 90 days to get to classic plan.
c, CSR agreed to apply a loyalty discount which will reduce the phone cost. I get $300 credit line, which would be split into 20 billing cycles and I pay the rest. I was not able to use it that day as SGS2 was not out that day.

SGS2 is out today and when I spoke to CSR, he told me
a, there is no way he can give the loyalty discount and allow me go on value plan.
b, I can go to classic plan, get regular discount on phone and pay as per the classic plan.

I am not sure why Tmobile is giving me conflicting information everytime I call them. Is there any policy behind all this?
Am I the one with this problem?

Thanks for your responses.

seriously Tmobile gets worse every day. I am on the phone all morning to find out how much it will cost me to cancel them. They are horrible now. No deferred payments on new phones now, pay in full is the only option.

Right.  Even More Plus people were never supposed to get phone discounts again. You are supposed to buy devices at full price.  You can buy an SGS2 for full price and keep your EM+ plan and stay out of contract.  Or you can switch to the value plan and pay full price for the phone also, but your plan rate may be less.

As you can see from this screen shot posted on the website, you can not move to a Classic plan:

why EM+ plans are prohibited from doing so? I was told i will be able to upgrade at the end of my contract[I thought its with a discount].. so i will not be able to get class plan with discount and I have to change carrier? is that the only option? CSR today morning told me that he could get that changed for me [from EM+ to classic]... not sure whats happening in tmobile..

They may be able to override it and get you to Classic.  But you have to compare how much more you'll be paying each month on Classic compared to Value.  On Value you don't get a phone discount, but they'll finance up to $300 of the device over 20 months and you'll pay less per month for your plan.  So it's about the same either way.

At one time we were able to switch cust from EM+ to classic but the policy changed and we are no longer able to do so.  Either way you save more money on a value plan.  Lets do the math;

Unlim TTW Classic Plan     140.00
Unlim TTW Value Plan       100.00
Saving every month =        40.00
Savings over 2 years =     960.00

Since we have to look at this in a 2 yr term on the value plan for 2 lines over the course of 2 years you will save a total of 960.00.

Lets say for example you purchased 2 sensation 4G's.

Phone price on Classic Plan     218.00*2 = 436.00; after rebates
Phone price on Value Plan       500.00*2 = 1000.00
Total difference in Phones               664.00

Even if I take the difference in phone pricing and subtract that from the amount of money saved over 2 years on the value plan, by paying full price for you phones you still save almost 300.00 on the value plan.

So in conclusion, unless you are getting the phones for free, no matter what phone you get you save money in the long run by being on the Value Plan.

*edit* I forgot one last portion if you have a corp/gov't disc because this is a contracted plan you get your monthly discount, making your savings even greater

Just because I don't give you credits, does not mean you did not receive exceptional customer service...

Just because the answer you have received from me is not the answer you wanted, does not make it incorrect.
