Is it just me or does the Sensation have a low ring volume?  Against my MT4G it is like a whisper.  The MT4G volume is sooo loud that I would keep it on level 2.  But the Sensation seems to have to be set much higher just to get a decent ring volume.

Is there anything I can do or download or is it a case of 'it is what it is'?

At times the hacker community will release things that may help. XDA-Developers is a good community. Check with them. I don't think the MT4G is very loud I can hardly hear it. I never answer my phone cuz I never hear it most of the time.

Wow really??!!!  My MT4G is a beast on volume!  Sometimes I've set it to level 1 because it was too loud on level 2!  But I guess it is the luck of the draw as to if you luck up and get one like that.

And thanks for the tip.

I think it applies to every smartphone on the market for that.

Well this volume thing is going to be a deal breaker for me.  I really like the phone but damn I want to be able to hear it ring!  And really don't want to have to depend on an app from the market to make it work better.  Which by the way is what HTC told me when I called to ask if there was something I could do or if there was a possible fix coming.

Uh duh...

Nokia's always have the loudest sound. T mobile doesn't have any of the later better models.

Look at the speaker, it's so small.

It's usually hit or miss on ringer volume.  Some phones I have had, the speaker is fantastic.  Others, not so loud. Also, the ringtones supplied with phones may not have been recorded "at full blast" so when they ring the sound is muffled.

Go to Android Market and install an app that enhances the volume.  The other solution is to make a custom ringtone (or download one) that's loud. I have done that as a workaround and it's always fixed the problem.

Also, experiment with the various ringtones that come on the Sensation, some are way louder than others.  For example, the "Curve" ringtone is pretty loud, IMHO.  Other ones that are usually loud are the classic phone sounds.

I usually make all of mine on my computer using a program called GoldWave, and adjust the volume as needed.  There's also Audacity that a lot of people use to make them on their computers.  I'm not sure of the ease of use of Audacity since I've never used it, but GoldWave may take some getting used to if you are a first timer.
