So... I have had the Vibrant for about a month now. I went through 2 phones within my first week due to freezing and auto-shutoffs for no reason. I stuck with the phone because I knew it was a fluke that I had that bad of luck with phones. They said it could have been due to 2.2 updates so I kept it on 2.1 for a while before upgrading the phone again. Although I am not having auto-shutoffs I am still having issues with a couple things.

Wi-Fi= While around my university i like to keep my Wi-Fi on because the coverage sucks in my area (700kbs or less download) and also when I am at my apartment. The problem is when I go to turn it on and off. 75% of the time the phone will get stuck trying to find wi-fi and it will never connect. After this I am unable to shut it off or retry another connection. I have gone through the settings and all the buttons configured to wi-fi freeze. Everything else will work fine when this happens, except i dont have wi-fi  :-[

OS= I try to keep my phone pretty clean app wise as well as other junk that accumulates from using the web and what-not. BUT, my screen still manages to be laggy/glitchy when using it. I have tried numerous types of wallpapers (live and still) but still the same problem. It is frustrating when I back out of an app and have to wait 30 seconds for the screen to refresh. Or just unlock the phone and wait 5 seconds to load. It was snappy for about the first week then progressively got worse. This happened on 2.1 and 2.2.

Media= This is by far the most frustrating out of all my problems. I love it when i take a picture or a video and 5 minutes later my phone tells me it is not compatible or cannot be played.  I have already had to reformat my External SD card once (lost everything on it) so now I just keep everything on internal memory. But I am still running into this problem. I have restarted my phone close to a bajillion times within the last couple weeks and find myself constantly backing it up. when this happens it doesnt happen to all pictures, videos, music, just select files it feels like giving the finger.

Please tell me I am not the only person that is having these issues. If so I will be highly disappointed in Samsung.

I've had some of these same issues.

I've had a Vibrant since it was released last July.  On previous versions of the OS, I've had various other issues, but recently I have been have new issues, probably associated with going to 2.2.  In the last 2 weeks they have sent me 2 new phones that both have the same issues.

My main issue is the Media:

I am having the issue where videos and music just won't play anymore.  This is both on internal and external memory.  To be sure it wasn't the files I was putting on, I try to record a video and that no longer works either.  Incidentally, I can still take pictures.

To resolve this, I have to restart the phone.  I suppose that wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen withing a day.  I don't think it is reasonable to have to shut down the phone every day.  Am I the only one who thinks that?

I'm about to call back in to support to see what they say.  I'm pretty sure it is going to 2.2 as this time I'm not using an external memory card, an installed very few apps, none of which have anything to do with media.

Wi-Fi:

I had this same issue with my first phone.  This is very frustrating.  I have barley had phones 2 and 3, so maybe that problem will creep up, I'm not sure.  It was also something I noticed more recently and was probably due to 2.2.

Keep exchanging, and you'll be able to ask for a diff phone for replacement after 3 replacements, probably a galaxy s 4g.

I agree.  Root it, I have none of these issues and actually never did.  Touchwiz makes the phone lag especially when going from homescrren to home screen.  Root it and flash a voodoo enabled kernal and that will cure the lag.  Go to XDA and read and learn.

HTC MyTouch Slide 4G
ROM: Stock-Rooted
Kernal: 2.6.35.10
Recovery:  CWM5.0.2.7

Oye! So I have 2 options... replace my phone a couple MORE times... I dont have the cash to outright buy a galaxy S 4g nor will my contract be up for a while yet. I have no idea what/how to root (but i can always learn) I would be really happy to get a 4g, but i dont want to be greedy. Thanks for the responses guys/gals
