Please don't talk about app piracy. You're paying $25/month for a smartphone data plan, yet you can't shell out a few bucks for a very useful app?

talkin to me? if so, don't worry about what I do.. there's still lots of ppl that does pay.. but there is a thing called unemployed, so u can't do everything u want/would like to do.. but i should be starting my $15/hr. job this month tho.

Anyways it was my first time rooting an android. But I have S=OFF & Superuser & SIM Unlock. Anyhow, just not interested in backup type of apps. I don't even use the Android back up feature.

So what if u want a new Android phone? or u have to get a replacement? or u want a custom rom? do u want to have to re-DL ALL of them again? u don't want all your saved data from those apps like Games back? especially with Angry Birds since its has MANY levels.. thats the benefit of backing up your apps with Titanium Backup PRO.. u only have to do it once.. u can have more backups if u want.. u can even delete the backups straight from a file explorer since the backup batch (all apps are separate in the folder) are in their own folder.. and then backup again for new saves whenever u feel its that time to backup again just in case.. u can even select which apps u want to backup instead of all.

So I HIGHLY recommend getting TiBackup.

Titanium Backup has saved my arse on many occasions. Just don't restore from when you're going between major OS versions (i.e. 2.1 to 2.2.) It worked perfectly from going from my old phone to my current one (both were on 2.3.)

oops.. forgot to mention that..thats why I haven't flashed a 2.3+ rom yet.. im waiting until most apps are compatible with 2.3.. plus, im waiting for the 2.3+ custom roms to mature a bit more.

but yea, once most or all your apps are compatible with 2.3, then u can back those up and restore them on your new rom.. but if they're not compatible with 2.3, can u still restore them on the rom, but they just wont open? or is there something else complicated in the restore process with a incompatible app?

Just about all of the 40 or so apps on my phone work with 2.3, save a few that have been updated in the past few weeks to work.

The reason why I generally try to avoid restoring all my apps going from OS version to OS version with the exception of games is that stuff can go wonky with framework changes and such. It's not that hard to go with a clean start except for my games. I could probably restore and have nothing go wrong, but I prefer to be on the safe side.

Yea it seems to better to do the more advanced methods to root than the easy method. I wasn't able to do the visionary method only to do permaroot. It was just temproot.

Well Visionary App offers permaroot but it wasn't working. I couldn't get it to S=OFF. So I had to install the SDK & run ADB. I was afraid I would mess up but it all worked out fine.

Visionary doesn't give u s-off.. u have to ADB for that.. and I said temp because its a temporary root until u actually root it w/o an having an app always running to stay rooted.

I had to actually temproot to use su in terminal. I then had to push with adb gfree to the phone. Then ran gfree & S=OFF. but then I had to use visionary again to temp root w/ R/W function & permaroot & it stuck.

Getting over 1600 in Quadrant.

5.7 mbps download at my house, where I have many bars of 4G goodness. My laptop has serious speed envy, since my DSL is clocking ~ 2.5 mbps. And now I'm off to the Market....

I could probably pull higher than 1800 on CM7, but my phone is at stock clock right now. Don't see a need to overclock when the MT4G is twice as fast as my old phone.

lol.. that's why i can't wait for my next phone with a dual-core SoC with a good GPU with Android 2.4.. 2.4 enables HW acceleration, which makes everything In Android iPhone smooth.. but apps have to be updated to support it (of course).
