The problem with the myTouch 4G is the fact that I can't stand full touch.  I need a hard keyboard with my phone lol.  And with enough of the review of the myTouch 4G that I have read, I am not that impressed.

And I don't care so much about being integration into the OS, my care I guess would be if it will stream each update and not take it off until I have read it like Happenings.

i would get the G2 since it is free right now.  Someone else mentioned the defy and it is a great phone as well but it doesn't have a keyboard...so you prob wouldn't want it.

The G2 comes with a decent Facebook app from the offical facebook team. Well we do hear there will be a cliq 2 or a phone simular to the Cliq being created by Moto. I personally have a G2 the battery life is way better the phone is extremly fast. The Keyboard is great as well. I got mine threw costco. Id say get one if you want a phone with a keyboard that's extremly fast. The phone has tons of apps basiclly everything you had on your g-mail account will transfer over. Also you can sync you fB contacts.

I heard about the possible Cliq 2 and part of me wants to see if it is true and would want to actually wait for it to get it instead but I am just wanting a newer phone at this point and if losing Blur has to happen then fine.

Sadly for me the G2 isn't free because of a T-Mobile error and they aren't willing to budge one bit on it other than giving me the 'full discount' price.  And yeah, I considered the Defy but without the keyboard, no, not happening.

Motorola doesn't care about phones that aren't on Verizon. As a Cliq owner, you know this firsthand.

The G2 is still a great option if you think you have to have a keyboard. It's got an excellent keyboard, and you'll get Android updates faster in addition to having a great dev community that supports the phone. Battery life is also pretty good because of the second-gen Snapdragon in there.

Thanks for the extra input Godzilla.  I actually finally went into the store to get even more of a feel for the phone and play around with it a little bit.  I will probably be purchasing it at the full discount before the month is over.  The only thing I am bummed about is I have been trying my hardest to find something that could give me something close to the Happenings widget (I only even use FB on the Cliq anyway).

The only reason is matters to me is I like the fact that I can go on my phone and it will show me everything that has happened since I last checked it.  With say the FB for Android App, it just shows you a general news feed, not anything like the Happenings that shows only what you haven't read lol.  But sadly I haven't found a single app, looking into Launcher Pro Plus that was mentioned and I am not impressed really...I wish Motorola weren't such ass holes and let some of the coding out so that someone could make a Happenings widget for non-blur devices -.-

Thats because you need Android 2.1+ in order to download it.

My Cliq is on Android 2.1....lol.  And I figured I would post an update that my local store has offered to do the upgrade in store as long as Customer Care notates the account....So with that I will be getting my G2 in about 2 weeks when I have the extra money.  Reason to go in store?  The store is willing to give it to me at the 199 price (But that is after a mail in rebate of 50...).   Either way, still 50 dollars cheaper.  And to top it off, the loyalty rep I spoke to today helped me out big time.  I mentioned considering the 79.99 promo plan and instead he gives me the 39.99 1000 plan w/ nights/weekends/m2m/myfaves and my 34.99 text/web feature...So now my bill is going to be around $74 a month after tax (due to corporate discount).

So...I am fairly happy and I have decided I will get the G2 :).

And that Launcher Pro Plus facebook feature isn't really what I want...So I correct what I said.  But oh well, I will live.  :)

Nexus s is what you want unless you NEED a physical keyboard.

I have both the G1 and G2. And keyboard is nice to have but 90% of my text input is done on screen in quick situations.

Just annoys me sometimes to flip it open and closed all the time just to type a few words. G2's z hinge is nice but it demands two hands. Where as onscreen input is done one handed and quick.

But G2 is the way to go if you want a physical keyboard. You'll like it. It's attractive solid build with stock android overcomes the loose hinge issue.

and OH it has a notification light around the trackpad! Nice touch.

Its optical trackpad was made to sensitive. I keep asking ppl to wait till the beginning of 2011 if they want something really great. Rather than jump on a phone for 2yrs that will be outdated by the time you can upgrade again. Time will cease again & upgrades to components will slow down. However, it hasnt been detected that time as of yet. When u get ur G2 ull see in the year why I asked for you to wait.

Yeah true, but it's still literally playing the same waiting game.

Every phone will have their design over others. I hear you on the next standard which is dual core.

But Id still recommend just getting something solid that's connected directly to google.

Look at evos, galaxy s's etc etc. Update waiting is a b.tch. But if your going to something then get what you'll like personally. The time is now. Then if you must and can afford it, buy something else

Like I said, something will trump each other in some regard. The leap will be bigger in 2011. But it still sucks because summer will be here in no time, and see something pop out and you'll want THAT one.

So I recommend a future proof, first in line to get the latest android OS updates google phone.

Nexus S, then G2. Of course older nexus one will get it before all others too.

iPhone 4 will last 2 years nicely no problem whatsoever which is nice. Android is deadly playing the waiting game. So straight google is the way to go.

People with their nexus ones still have em and love em. First in line to get the latest android OS updates has a big thing to do with that. Reassurance, receiving updates before others etc.

I do need the physical keyboard yes.  And I know, but last I checked the G2 comes standard with Swype as well so if I need a quick input I will just use that...It is on my Cliq and I love it.

I know that stuff will keep changing Viper.  The only reason I am considering and planning on getting the G2 here soon is because it is a solid Android phone and I want something different.  If I wait until 2011...guess what will happen?  I get a new nicer say dual core phone...and somehow by the end of the year they'll have managed to make a quad-core (I know this probably wouldn't happen but the point is something newer will always come up and if you wait, you see that newer phone come out...you'll be tempted to wait again and you'll be in a perpetual waiting mode.  The G2 is top of the line at this time and I am impressed with it so if I get it, I do.  I don't care about waiting because just like when I got the Cliq, I knew something better would come along shortly after as it always does with technology.

I had the Cliq from when it was first launched until 2 weeks ago and the G2 feels and is leaps and bounds better than the Cliq. I dont miss motoblur at all, and there are other apps out there to streamline your social networks as another user stated. I rooted the Cliq just to get 2.1 and live wallpapers, which made it really buggy and slow. This phone is pretty smooth and probably will get gingerbread....but they said that about the cliq and postponed 2.1 for months, so who knows. I like the phone overall.  ;D

I would not have a doubt in my mind that the G2 is getting gingerbread love, or even honeycomb. HTC is nothing like Moto. They wont let a very popular phone sit forever on one version of the OS.
