if u guys want an Android update bad right now, then why don't u just ROOT!? just accept the fact it'll be awhile until the official update.. so might as well root and install the Android update.

Well J-Hop, here is why I don't root the Slide.  First off it is my daughters and I'm not going to screw around with her phone and have her come to me and bitch that something is wrong.  If there is an issue she can call T-Mobile.  Saves me a bunch of time and stress since she doesn't live at home right now.  I would like to see 2.2 on the Slide, but I'm not going to root it to get it.

I just got my son the MT4G and I'm not going to root that one either.  He's going to school on the east coast which makes it even more difficult then my daught's phone to service.  That is what the Techs at T-Mobile are there for.

It is a different story if it was my phone, but I'm not going to root my kid's phones.  Just not worth the headaches for me.

i was basing it off of ppls 'own' phone.. not doing it to others' phones.. and ****, even Tmo Tech support will give u lame tech support (aka factory reset).. so they can only do so much.. XDA will actually fix problems (eg. SGS file system fix aka lag fix), and make your phone better.. only problems you'll run into is if those roms are still in beta.. root is only root.. doesn't mess up the phone in anyways.. mainly allows u to use apps the require root, like Titanium backup, and Shootme (screenshots).

Its because you got ppl on the Primus system T-Mobile uses editing crap out to the point where other reps cant use the info to help others. It is T-Mobiles fault as to why you are able to get help to a specific level. Many reps try to help out the other reps but if your lil How To's are being edited constantly to a point where its been deleted or not readable then they probably tell you what they know which are the basics.
