Ummm they began getting rid of outsourcing which is why hold times are ridiculous.

My hold times are ridiculous and i get Indians who cant hear or speak English. I used to call in and within one minute i would be connected to an American who could talk the language 100% perfectly and understand every word i said. Now it takes five minutes to an hour to get connected to an Indian who cant speak English worth the crap or understand what i say.

Confusion...

THATS IT!!!! i have had it with this POS phone.

thanks to all of you for the replies and advice but i am completely fed up with the phone and am putting it on ebay ASAP...if i dont throw it against a wall before that.....

mytouch 4g

-laggy
-terrible battery life
-way too high maintenance
-keep having to disconnect BT and WIFI so that they will make a proper connection
-THIS VIDEO CHAT IS SO BAD.... NOT HAVING IT WOULD ACTUALLY BE BETTER
-wifi calling? yea right.
-android equal to iphone?  OH PLEASE!
-wait let me take out my battery and put it back in to make the phone stop F#@$% freezing!
-Browser blows
-media player? yea right
-oh wait let me uninstall all the apps just so my phone can function
-oh wait let me swipe my finger two or three times just to make a page move, or to unlock the phone.
-this phones touchscreen blows.

went to tmo and "theres nothing wrong with the phone, its functioning properly"
WHAT A FREAKING JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is supposed to be one of the latest and greatest android phones and i am completely done with android. I was never a fanboy but this phone has defnitely made me hate android. I was hoping that iphone to verizon would make google improve on their product but now i am hoping that the iphone to verizon makes android another palm.

suck it android

i would try a g2 before i say anything about android as sense (what the mytouch 4g has) sucks and makes the phone suck. without my custom gingerbread ROM on my mytouch 4g i would have a g2. but im a tech freak and like rooting. if you dont, get a phone with a stock rom.

BTW Everything you said above is almost completely horrible and if you really do have to got through that much aggravation to make your phone work i feel bad for you and would never own a mytouch again. but i have never had any of those problems in my years of using android. except for bad battery life (on my old G1),  and lag (again, on my G1).

But really. try a g2 before you crap on android.

Yea, try a G2.. i have no problems with the software (Tmo rom & custom rom).. i wouldn't even touch the MT4G with a 20ft pole.

Exactly. It all depends if you like HTCs Sense custom interface. Some people cant live without it. Some people, like me, think that it is the worst thing ever and ruins phones. Like i said. The only reason i have a myTouch 4G is because i have it rooted running a custom 2.3.1 Gingerbread ROM.

Before you bought the myTouch you should have tried it out at the store. Both the phones, MT4G and G2, run the same OS but they operate a lot different.

I do like HTC Sense.. not Tmo's version.. plus I don't really like the look of the MT4G.. G2 looks wayyy better.. plus I like keyboards to type longer messages like this.. for quick txt's I use Swipe.. but I'm waiting for the G2's Gingerbread roms to come out of RC.. plus wait for apps to update to Gingerbread.

blacksilva,
I was thinking about Rooting and running GingerBread ROM on my MyTouch 4G and see you have already done it.  My only fear is that Wifi calling will stop working.  I use wifi calling all the time, due to bad cell tower signal in my area.  Does wifi calling work.  What about qik does it still work.  What on the phone (if anything) stops working once you rooted and installed the 2.3.1 Gingerbread ROM?  Thanks for your response.

Wi-Fi calling works on CM7 Gingerbread. Qik does work also. Yahoo video works also. Basically everything works.

You got to root using a more advanced method due to the fact that you just got the phone. The basic instructions will not work. You need to do GFree method w/ Visionary. GFree_02 not GFree_04. Its 2.3.2 btw.

Wi-Fi Calling works great for me on CyanogenMod 7, which is the best 2.3 ROM out there for the MT4G. Qik, it should but use something other than that buggy piece of junk. Fring is alright if you're doing video chat only between devices.

Everything has been working great for me with CM7. Just remember to wipe and do a nandroid backup before you flash CM7.

Viper and Godzilla have already answered you but ill still state my input.

The CM7 Gingerbread ROMs work just as well, if not better, than the ROM that comes on the phone stock. Wifi calling works, Qik works (even though i use tango instead of qik), battery life is 10x better, and really their is no reason not to flash the latest Gingerbread ROMs. Like viper said you will have to use the gfree version of rooting.

Here is a link to a guide. Its pretty easy and straightforward. You will need ADB though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996

Just follow the first ten steps and then put the root.sh on your sd card and then follow the other 5 steps. You dont need the engineering boot loader but if you want you can put it on. I use it because i changed the splash screen.

If all these words such as ADB, ROMs, clockwork, recovery, slash screen, flash, and gfree  are confusing or new to you let me know. Ill do my best to explain them.

My method is different & requires Visionary, Root Explorer, GFree, Terminal Emulator & one other app.

*Newer models root.sh does not work, including permaroot function in Visionary
*NO Engineering Radio is needed
*Fastboot on ADB does not work on newer devices showing (Remote: Not Allowed)

1. Download Visionary & put on your SD Card from PC. (Need to send you the Visionary app) Make sure you have Unknown Sources checked in Applications in Settings. Install Visionary.
2. Open Visionary, Hit the option that mentions R/W & Hit Temproot.
3. Throw GFree_02.zip from PC onto the SD Card, Download Root Explorer from the one other app i'll specify only in PM.
4. Open Root Explorer & hit mount R/W, Go to /SDCard & hold to select move GFree_02.zip over to the following directory /data/local. Hit Paste, Now hold & Extract GFree_02.zip.
5. Install Terminal Emulator from Market. Open it type the following commands:

su
cd /data/local
chmod 777 gfree
./gfree -f

6. It will put a Part7backup onto the SD Card if you need to unroot in the future. You will be rooted & SIM Unlocked. Now hit Home, Goto Visionary & select Permaroot w/ R/W checked & it will restart the device. You are rooted & S=OFF Now. You can hit the Volume Down + Power Key & it'll go into bootloader to check to make sure S=OFF. (Use Volume Down/Up to scroll, Power to select) Make sure you have Fast Boot shut off in Applications in Settings before going to into bootloader because bootloader is disabled when Fast Boot is on. To get out of bootloader select fastboot w/ power button & down to reboot & select again w/ power button.
7. You will download ROM Manager. Its time to flash a recovery. Open Rom Manager & you will hit flash recovery. Select 2.5.1.4. After it downloads & flashed you should get a success message. Now you can go here on your computer: http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=glacier & you will download the latest Gingerbread ROM. Also you need Google Apps here: http://android.d3xt3r01.tk/cyanogen/gapps/gapps-gb-20110120-signed.zip
8. Put on SD Card & go back into ROM manager, Hit Reboot into Recovery.
9. (Use Optical Pad for Scroll & Hit to Select, Back button is enabled) Now you will hit wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition.
10. Select install zip from sdcard, choose zip from sdcard. Select the ROM first & scroll down to where it says yes w/ the filename & select it & ROM will install. When complete do the same procedure w/ the Google apps file.
11. You can hit back & reboot system now. COMPLETE!

Visionary can be uninstalled but DO NOT remove Superuser.

BTW this phone was fast on stock. If your device was slow I don't understand how. DoubleTwist just doesn't work right i've submitted a bug report.

I've owned about 5 android phones so far and the MT4G is by far my favorite. Running CM 7 of course. I was really in dire need of a phone with wifi calling. I moved to a house that looses signal as soon as I walk in the door. So I REALLY needed that and it works GREAT!!!! I get good battery life, and this phone does everything I ever wanted a phone to do. I remember the days we were all waiting for flash to come out for the browser. lol, and the snapdragon processor is insanely fast esp. if you overclock it. to 1.5 GHz
Anyhow this is the first time that I don't even want another phone, I'm more than satisfied with this. I just have my eye's on a tablet now, lol.
