Someone on XDA stated that it worked with t-zones but I am skeptical. Anyone here purchased HD7 unsubsidized?

Yes it does work.  I bought an HD7 full price and I can confirm that it works.  (Well minus the fact that T-Mobile Store Reps were a**holes and added required data anyways without my permission and I had to call customer loyality to get it removed and my old data plan back)

Thats exactly what happened to me when I bought my HD2, I'm pretty sure they "assured" you your current data plan would not be changed right? Probably doing it on purpose hoping people wont check their data plan. Cant trust anyone these days.

Actually the policy is a lil tricky. They dont do it because they want to. Hell in one part they require it. In the other they don't. When you go online to do EM+ even tho it doesnt require data, it still will make u choose a data plan.

However, if its not the reps doing it could possibly be an auto-system trigger. But I dont think they have this implemented. that the system would auto-add anything unless a rep did so.

For some reason Tmo never seemed to care about blocking the WinMo devices from using the cheap data plans.  I guess they continued that way of thinking with the WP7.  However, the big test is when the new data plans go into effect on Sunday.  Who knows what's going to happen that day.

I called Tmobile to see what are my options to upgrade to the HD7 but still keep my tzones.  The Rep told me I had to signup for the $30 plan and that tzones will not work with the HD7.  I told the Rep that I have a friend that has the HD7 and tzones is working, and the Rep said that by Sunday it will be blocked.  The Rep also told me to call in about two weeks because of the new cheaper data plans will be out and I can upgrade to the HD7 with the cheaper data plan.

If I don't get the HD7, I'll be waiting for the next batch of WP7 phones that will be 4G, FFC, and a higher resolution screen or SAMOLED.

You knew what?  What is detected?  Currently the HD7 is not detected.  Maybe it will be Sunday or maybe not.  Customer Service Reps make up things all the time.

The system does not automaticly add any web plans on a full price phone purchase and the required feature can only be added a few ways.  I don't know all the details but was this a corporate store?  If so I would go back and talk (not yell) to the manager.  If was an indirect, not much you can do.

FYI- T-Mobile does everything it can to discourage this type of shady stuff. That is why they send a text when the web feature has been modified or added.

Was definitely a T-Mobile store in my case and I didnt receive any text that my plan had been modified. I called CS and they sorted it out.

I did get the text, thats why I called in.  Still annoying that I had to call in twice though because the first loyalty agent pretended to fix everything but obviously didn't.  And nothing was signed at the corporate store, and worse yet it was the manager of the store who sold me the device.  T-Mobile has really fallen in my book.

It actually goes by the phone. When I want to get a plan w/ a smartphone. T-Mobile will give you the option of not doing it. However, if you try this online it auto-adds still.

Bumping to see if this still works. If so, is it still not detected by Tmo?

I just bought a used phone from ebay and want to switch from my iphone, but I dont want to have to move up to a higher priced plan (on $10 unlimited now)
