yeah, i had to cancel my appointment for today, i need to make sure I can use tinyumbrealla to bring up my old version 4.0 or 4.01. I tunes is forcing me to update to 4.1 in order to restore
Right, you just need to manually have itunes put the older firmware on there. Just follow the procedure linked to below (skip step 3---doesn't apply to iphone 3G)
Actually, since you have a 3G not a 3GS, I don't even think you need tiny umbrella. Basically, you'll download the 4.0.1 firmware. Then you have itunes install the firmware you downloaded and not the latest firmware. Then you should be all set. Simple:http://www.redmondpie.com/downgrade-ios-4.0.2-to-ios-4.0.1-4.0-iphone-4-3gs-ipod-touch-how-to-guide/
I called the store and just straight out asked, and they said they would not service any phone that was jailbroken good thing i called before i drove out there.
Of course, they're going to say that. You could be calling from Apple headquarters...what else or they going to say? But if you can demonstrate that the battery is failing, then they're not going to worry about looking at the phone to see if Cydia is installed.
Just read the last line.
This is just more of your anti-Apple propaganda that you're well known for posting. Where does the patent application state that it will do the things the article is accusing Apple of wanting to do? It's not there. There is nothing in the patent application about wiping out someones phone because they jailbroke it. That is pure paranoid speculation on the part of intomobile. Here is the patent information. The facts state something completely different from the article:http://www.patentvest.com/console/reports/docs/app/20100207721.html
As you'll see, the patent is for Apple's system for protecting the users information whose devices were stolen by backing up the data and wiping the device clean so that a thief can not use it.
You will love Android. Apple is way to controlling. you can do what you want to do with the Android. Apple thinks that because they made the phone they can control everything it does. well...you bought it...so they cant lol.
Just more off-topic anti-Apple talk in a thread that's about restoring an iPhone. But why don't you be honest about who's being controlling? Why not mention how Sprint and apparently T-Mobile are modifying Froyo to prevent the native hotspot function from working. Why don't you be honest about how AT&T is blocking side-loading of apps on its Android phones:http://www.intomobile.com/2010/07/15/side-loading-android-apps-on-att-htc-aria-is-a-no-go-again/
Why don't you be honest about what Verizon is doing to their Android devices? Things like locking Bing in as the search engine instead of Google as they did on the Fascinate? They also have locked out mobile hotspot as well. Plus they're getting some of the app makers to make exclusive apps for their devices so they can control
With my iphone I have jailbroken it with a flip of the thumb and I can do as I please.
you can have a jailbroken device but once you jailbreak it your warranty is void.
Again this is more false information on your part. I've already pointed out examples of people who jailbroke and still got warranty repairs.
Apple thinks they can remotely wipe our phone that has all your pictures, videos, songs, apps, everything and then make the device unusable.
Apple does not think that, and you have presented no proof or evidence to show they think that. This is just something you're dreaming up that has no basis in fact.
