I have to tell you - I am SUPER impressed by this phone. The two things that really stood out to me right away are:

1) The sturdiness of it. While I could see people complaining that it might be too 'heavy' I think it feels great. The casing is all metal, and you can tell. This thing feels great in your hand.
2) The keyboard mechanism is really ingenious. I have not gotten the hang of the best way to flip it open yet, but it is SO smooth. It makes the Droid look like a car that doesn't have power steering.

To answer the thread questions:
1) Commerce, Michigan
2) Dunno! Just got it an hour ago (but it hasnt died yet :))
3) Sounds really good to me.
4) Covered above, but so far looks really solid.
5) Had one initial "uh-oh" moment when a message came up suddenly saying my SIM card failed, but that was after the initial setup and before a clean reboot... Hasn't happened since.

I DO have one question/item I do not like so far... Which is:

On my G1, I like how I could press any button and the lock screen would come up, and then I had to press Menu to unlock it (so essentially Menu twice would unlock it). It seems with this phone, the ONLY way to get to the unlock screen is to press a tiny button at the top of the phone - instead of pressing any button or the screen or even pressing the optical scroll thingy (which I find really strange). I dont like having to find that button each time I want to see what time it is! :(

Anyone know of a way to make the optical sensor push also display the unlock screen!? Other than that I love it so far!!!!

thanks for all the info. im really considering buying this phone but i just dont want the $20 data plan. if they could give me a $10 one i would buy it but thats not going to happen.

BTW to make the lock screen basically disappear their is an app in the market called no lock. when you press the power button you will be thrown directly into the phone and completely bypassing the lock screen. you can use the app to enable/disable it. their is also a 1x1 widget that comes with the app.

Thanks - Sorry for any confusion - I am not trying to make the lock screen dissapear, I just want to be able to GET to the lock screen without having to press the small tiny power button only. I would prefer to be able to press the scrollbar sensor, or the volume control, or any of the hot keys... Any chance of that?

Just H here so far.  I'm pretty high up so the signal isn't usually great, but it was H at home as well and I usually got pretty solid 3G in Brooklyn with my G1

It's great. But the case on mine is faulty. On the front bottom right corner, where the metal meets the plastic.. There's a pretty big gap... Fingernail could squeeze easily in it....

On the left just a little. Overtime dust etc, is going to build quuuick in it.. Sucks...

Anybody else have bigger than normal/lop sided gaps on the front bottom corners where the metal meets the plastic?? By the optical track pad?

When I move scroll on the optical track pad, you feel the sharp metal. It's not flush.. Not bad, but the gap between where the metal meets the plastic, especially on the right is big. And it's not even like it's pushed in

Don't want to go through all the returning. Damn..

So far my only problem is that the home screen and app drawer stay in portrait unless you open the keyboard.
Other than that, amazing phone :D

thats normal. I suggest trying out LaunchPro. its free and looks just like the stock launcher and has a lot of settings.

Is the "Auto-Rotate Screen" Option checked under Settings -> Display?

it should be yes but the home screen does not rotate. unless you get a different launcher from the market.

I wonder if T-Mobile removed that icon?

Have been loving it! Used to have G1 now this and it's a huge step! Only thing is, how do you take the microsd memory card out? I have tried pressing down on it and it doesn't unlock. But don't want to press too hard as I don't want to break it. Maybe somebody could make a youtube video? haha.

NVM found a video that helped alot. So anyone else that is having trouble check this video on how to remove microsd memory from the G2...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcSyVtI_JVE

forward to 2:45 into the video

You do have to be careful removing the microsd card, it's tight fit and initially I thought the metal clip had snapped.

I have bought this off contract and so I had to call T-Mobile to have my G1 data package moved across to the G2.

Just connected it to my mac to find that the sd card has a copy of Double Twist to install as the way to transfer media files.

Finally the screen is unwatchable in direct sunlight, not so great when you live in Atlanta...

The rep on the phone was very happy to take my call as it gave her the opportunity to play with the phone!

I thought it would be better than AMOLED, since its a Super TFT screen

I was actually just outside with mine and thought it was fine in direct sunlight.
