So for a while I have been dead set on getting the G2. I have the G1 currently, and felt what better replacement than the phone that is a successor by name. But after reading some specs on the myTouch HD such as the dual core processor, front-facing camera, and the genius button I am a bit undecided. Is there a comparison thread of the two anywhere? I also have a few questions about the myTouch HD. Would it have LED flash as the G2 does? Has there been a release date set for the myTouch HD yet?

What, in your opinion, is the best way to go?

Q's:

Keyboard or Touch only?
Stock Android or Espresso Sense?

those are the main two i can think of.. but the myTouch HD specs are unconfirmed.. don't even now if thats the final look.. but it will NOT have a dual-core processor.. and since HTC loves Qualcomm, dual-cores comes out 2011.. i doubt it'll have TWO processors aka SoC.. im sure it'll be the same as G2's 7230 [1GHz DC'd to 800MHz], or 8250a [1.2GHz] or 8255 [1GHz] which are all single-core 2nd Gen Snapdragons.. the only way for the myTouch HD to get dual-core is if it will be pushed back til early 2011.

FFC is niche.. Genus button is niche and unnecessary since Android already has a built-in Voice Search & Commands.. im sure the HD will have a LED flash.. and rumored release date is sometime in November.. but MY choice will be the G2.. the myTouch line/brand is for the novice/first time Android users to me.

So either get the G2 early october.. or wait a lil longer to see what phone choices the remainder of 2010 will look like.

As J-Hop breaks it down, it all winds down to whether you want a keyboard or not, and whether you can deal with Espresso Sense or prefer stock Android.

If it were me, I'd go with the G2. But your needs/wants may be different. Care to elaborate on what you want in a handset? That may make it clearer for you.

I feel pretty sure that the document posted on the blog was a fake.

Anyways, the only reason to really consider the MyTouch HD is if it has a big screen (4.3''.) If it doesn't, get the G2. FFC sure, but there's not really a way to use an FFC on Android.

ugh 4.3'' screen. I don't need a phone the size of a snow sled.

Their are a few things you have to like to like each of the phones, which people have already listed but im going to list them again  ;D.

you have to like a real keyboard or virtuals. That IMO is the biggest difference in the 2. you know which one is which their.

another thing you have to like is sense (im not sure if its expresso or not, if it has espresso the myTouch slide has expresso. its the same thing as sense just a little more light weight but with all the features as sense.) or vanilla. if you like sense go for the myTouch hd. if you like stock vanilla go for the g2.

Also, is the front facing camera important to you? the mytouch hd has one, the g2 does not.

So basically to wrap it up do you like sense (espresso), physical keyboards, or front facing cameras?

Me myself, i will have to wait till i see the hd's specs. if the mytouch is a g2 with sense and a keyboard delete im going to get the g2. if the mytouch has a 3.7+ inch screen ill get the HD. I like those massive screens!

I appreciate all of the input. The biggest the thing I'm struggling with is needing a new phone soon. I loved the G1. For two years it has been very good to me and I never had any problems out of mine. I just feel its getting to be on its last legs and there are so many apps I can't even get access to in the market because of it running on 1.7. And I can't ever get them unless I find an .apk file on the internet somewhere. I loved the physical keyboard and the ability to have a soft keyboard as well. Having that option is great!

The reason I enjoy the feature of an FFC is just because its something out there that is new and fresh. I know the possibilities of its usage are dim as of now, I'm sure it will grow just as everything else does. I don't like that the FFC will probably only be 1.3 megapixels max....or thats what the EVO has anyway.

And as far as sense is concerned, having a G1 obviously doesn't give me the ability to use HTC sense so I don't have an opinion. Sense is and probably never will be a deal breaker for me just because I have used phones without it and don't see it as necessary.

Oh and another question. Any word on if the screen will be multi-touch or not?
