Vibrant Update Phone Brick

Just did the Kies update for the new firmware, but now screen will stay on Galaxy S logo for a while then it will only be a black screen. The buttons light up but don't ever fade away and aren't responsive.

Hard reset my only option?

EDIT: Just tried to do a hard reset but buttons are unresponsive it seems because it never takes me to the format screen.

my phone bricked yesterday after the update, which I downloaded maybe a week ago? It'd been acting glitchy ever since, but totally bricked yesterday. Turned itself off and wouldn't come back on. Hard reset wouldn't work. They are sending me a replacement phone.

My phone didn't brick, but after the update my email has been temperamental.  Sometimes it crashes and forces closure, other times it just shows a black screen, and it isn't updating email as it should.  I did a complete reset, but that didn't help.  TMobile is sending me out a new phone.

Never have a low battery when updating.

they are sending me a new phone as well, but I have been told by numerous customer care reps that the phone is on backorder and they have no idea of when it will be available again. So I am stuck using a CRAP-tastic loner phone. They did credit me a month of internet though.
