They better not price it too high. I wonder if we could put our current sim in and use our current data plan or will they pull an apple and force u to get a data plan only dedicated to the device.

Added some promo videos in the article: http://www.tmonews.com/2010/09/samsung-confirms-galaxy-s-tab-headed-to-t-mobile/

Also, according to MobileBurn, you won't be able to place voice calls with the Tab as the U.S. versions will not have voice capabilities: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=10827

but what about the video calling, like it shows in the US promo video above? isn't video calling apart of voice capabilities? or was that just a FFC app, and it has a mic for it? but in the Tmo press release, they mention "FFC & video chat" .. sooooo....?
I'm pretty sure the Mic is included and instead Samsung will just exclude abilities to make regular calls (not video calls).

Ordered an iPhone today, but will probably get one of these on T-Mobile (price point permitting) to stay in the Android fold.

I'm really not liking this trend of all the good tablets being tied to carriers. I don't want to pay another $25-$30/month data plan. Guess I'll be forced into an iPad in the future, but I was prepared to get an iPad anyways.

They are making a WIFI only device. And im sure they will sell them without a contract as well.

I just looked at a clearer photo.. it'll use Qik for video calling.. but why take out regular phone calls? u can BT pair to so u dont have to put it up to your ear, or have to use loudspeaker.

I'd rather go the other way, Android phone and iPad.

I have to seriously wonder how apps that are meant for a 3.5-4.3'' phone screen are going to handle on a 7-inch screen. However, props to Samsung for making the first real iPad competitor.

Thought about that too. The iPhone 4 lured me to it. Gonna give it a 30 day tryout to see if it can replace my nexus one. So it'll either be iPhone 4 + Galaxy Tab or Nexus (or G2) + iPad. Thats if I can talk myself into the merits of having a tablet though.

Developers are gonna have to update their apps to support the new WSVGA (1024 x 600) resolution for their apps.. or else the apps are gonna looked stretched out, look worse/pixlated maybe.. think watching a youtube video at 320p and making it full screen.

This is great for tmobile.

Personally, I'm rocking an iPad wifi, and going to tether it to the future G2.

iPad's Optimized 9.7" 1024x768 iPad apps are unique... top quality and ranging in the tens of thousands already... not to mention you can blow up and also use all the iPhone/iTouch apps too... which means the apps/games library is enormous... Plus the 10+ hour battery life is great. It's fast and butterly smooth. Feels polished all around.

If Samsung's galaxy tab has live wallpaper, that's beautiful... But I'm extremely happy with my iPad wifi tethered to upcoming G2 combo!

Anyone heard anything on pricing? (yes, I know nothing's been released yet!). Rumors, gossip etc ... ??

IMHO pads/tablets are a nice toy to have lying around near the sofa (lookup stuff on the web while watching TV etc), but I'm not paying 500+ bucks for a toy ...

Question to Android users: Skype for Android, is it worth anything? Does it do video?

However, props to Samsung for making the first real iPad competitor.

A device with only a 7" screen is not a real iPad competitor.

Skype for Android is only available for Verizon phones. No video. Yes, I know this is dumb.

I'm thinking that a tablet is a device you find a use for once you get one. I'd use it for surfing on the couch while watching racing (IRC on my phone kinda sucks.) Probably also out and about because I don't have a laptop, and it's nicer to have a 7-9'' screen than a 4.3'' max screen.

A device with only a 7" screen is not a real iPad competitor.

A 7'' screen isn't as nice as a 10'' for me, but there are a few advantages. Smaller, lighter and you can hold it in one hand for reading.

Theres an app that can actually change the market code to Verizon so it could pick up the app.

Anything in this world is a competitor of some sort even if a few buy it.

Still won't work since the app goes through Verizon towers. Even if you're on Wi-Fi, it will still go through Verizon towers, which means that if you're not on Verizon, you can't use Skype.

Its trying to detect the phone number & since I tuned airplane mode on it cant. Skype still would be great if it could be on any device.
