I like the idea of inexpensive Android phones, but its still a hard sell for a 30 data plan to go with it, they should have a low end data plan or come up with a family data plan.

Family data would be great. If T-Mobile really wants to position themselves as "the best carrier for families," that's what they need to do.

I'm thinking $75-$100 on-contract, but QVGA is still a bummer.

Doesn't TMO have enough low end devices?

Doesn't TMO have enough low end devices?

Considering that they are discontinuing a few low-end, and introducing some high-end devices... They will need something like this.
I support anyone who brings about competition and innovation. Be it Google, Apple, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Palm, Microsoft, RIM, LG, Sharp, or anyone else I may have forgot. Variety is great. What's good for one person, is dead wrong for another.

I think inexpensive Androids would be good also but first we need to get GOOD Android phones. the vibrant is really the only competitor for verizon and sprints Android phones. Verizon and sprint have multiple very good android phones while tmobile just has one really good Android and one 'ok' Android (myTouch slide). The upcoming G2 will be an 'ok' Android IMO because of the 'ok' processor. Hopefully it will have a nice GPU but i doubt it. They should have jumped on the Nexus when they had the chance instead they get phones like the charm...*face*palm*.

u do know the processor in the G2 [7X30] is almost comparable to the SGS/Vibrant [Hummingbird].. its better than the processor [8X50] in the Nexus One/HD2 and the rest of the high end HTC phones out now.. so its not a "ok" phone.

Honestly, the processor isnt everything. It is set to 800Mhz minimum but can goto 1Ghz Maximum. Even tho those #s are smaller than the 1Ghz processor minimum the nexus has its other components in the processor are an upgrade & the GPU as well.

the thing that gives it away big time is the G2 is HSPA+ (also Scorpion & 800MHz downclocked) .. the only Qualcomm thats HSPA+ out now is 7230.. Qualcomm has some other new ones that supports HSPA+ thats unreleased right now.

haven't you've been reading the blogs that already officially stated it will be 7230? but the biggest highlight of this 7230 processor is the upgraded GPU (Adreno 205) from the old 1st.Gen Snapdragon [8X50] Adreno 200 GPU.

Except it can be used with web2go basic ($10), it'll never sell.

Or say this:
Except IDEOS is allowed to use on $10 data instead of $25-30, nobody would buy it.

What is so frustrating to hear on so many blog sites is the misconceptions of the G2 processor.

HEADS UP:

A new next generation processor clocked at 800Mhz is BETTER than an old processor clocked at 1Ghz.

Everyone ingrain this into their skulls so we never see another ignorant post this again.... at least not on this site.

Where this kills T-Mobile though is going to be the marketing.  Their general customer base is not the people who come to blog sites this, so if the people who are supposedly 't-mobile inclined' can't keep up with stuff like this, how do they expect their buying customer base to?

T-Mobile customers can never be satisfied. That's why C/S has to bottle feed the cry babies. Sprint brings out the HTC Evo after having the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero for over 6 months and they're the premier Android carrier? Which would most of you rather have, the STOCK 2.2 HTC G2 or a Samsung Epic running 2.1 under TouchWiz 2.5? On SPRINT? Since everyones got the money here to buy 3 new high end Android phones every two months I'm wondering why you haven't switched already.
