::yawn:: Who cares. Bunch of rich old guys. Let them battle it out. No one is shaking in their boots for a bunch of multi-millionaires who already dislike each other.  Aren't they all in some way suing each other over patents? Wake me up in 10 years when that dramas over....

BTW...since we're in the habit of sharing videos here, thought it was nice to find this on CNN. Wow, some ACTUAL iPhone owners, who, drumroll please, LIKE their iPhone 4. These are just 3 of the over 3 million iPhone users. :) As Mulder said: "The truth is out there".

I've NEVER NEVER NEVER had any problems with my Bold 9700 reception. BlackBerry handsets seem to get the best reception even in low signal areas.

Well the Touch Pro 2 has 2 antennas top & bottom & blackberry probably has one on top. could be possible that manufacturers are putting them in both places. Apple simply took design over reception like they always do & theres clear evidence in all their products.

Case isnt going to do much it will only help a little bit as the signal will travel some other direction.

The case has already been independently tested to solve the problem and prevent signal attenuation that occurs when a person touches that spot.

Didnt i say rim was gonna be pissed...

RIM has bigger problems than Apple showing how their Bold does not function properly when gripped.  They need to come up with an innovative device and form factor that keeps up with the times.  Their stock has dropped a massive 27% over the past year, because investors don't believe they're going to keep up Apple and Android devices.

The days of the portrait keyboard devices seems to be quickly coming to the end----even the business world may drop them soon....

You guys just can't help yourselves with the Apple vs. Everything stuff can you?

It was funny at first, but now it has become petty and childish.

My motto - "Use whatever phone/carrier you want and let everyone else do the same".

I said it helps somewhat I didnt say it didnt help at all.

It helps more than somewhat however.  Independent tests have concluded that if you have the bumper on the device and you touch that area in the lower left, it has a negligible drop in signal strength—so slight that it would not have any effect.

In essence, if you're in an area with poor AT&T coverage, it can improve the device's ability to maintain a connection.

but now it has become petty and childish.

Using labels like "childish" to describe apple supporters is frequently resorted to when the person can't express and defend their views using simple logic and reasoning skills.

I didn't say Apple supporters are childish. The childish "label" applies to both sides.

It's basically come down to "Oh yeah!? Well, my dad can beat up your dad".

Because once the case is over it the antenna goes from being an outside antenna to an inside antenna in which since there is less interference in the inside its going to be better.

Apple should not have tried to drag RIM down, cause it found themselves in a fashion, instead of functionality ditch.

Everyone knows Apple does not like RIM, and is desperately trying to win the faithful Blackberry users over to the iphone.

It's true that the Blackberry, is kinda old school, because its almost the same devices, and OS to the end user. But, people love the BB Messenger, and form factor, and people won't leave the Blackberry, that easily.

That's probably true. My dad is retired with bad knees.

I don't know that "desperately" is the right word.  A company that is selling as many devices as it does, really isn't desperate.

I think there's a gradual change of business users who are changing from the BB to the iPhone when possible.  Granted, due to corporate restrictions this isn't always possible when desired.

Well, you've got to evolve your OS and your product to keep up with the times and I think BB has been slipping in that area.  People may definitely like what they have.  And BB is helped by corporations who keep supporting it while preventing their employees from changing.  But they have been stagnant, and if not turned around soon, eventually some other company will get businesses on board, and RIM could lose customers by droves.

If you doubt it, look at how quickly Palm fell from grace...

Yup. RIM needs to make some changes. Just because what you have is good, doesn't mean it will be good forever. BBM is great, but eventually people will stop using it, and ultimately stop using BB, just like MySpace lol...

RIM shouldn't be worried about the iPhone. Apple will be content with a minority share on one carrier and a lot of profit. They should really be worried about Android. Android is available on all 4 carriers (AT&T finally got a decent Android phone.) It's being pushed hard on Verizon, a former BlackBerry stronghold. Sprint is also another strong BB carrier, and the Evo is being pushed hard too.

When the only reason people haven't left your platform is a proprietary technology that can be easily replaced (hello Gtalk), you're in a bad position. There is no compelling reason for someone to buy a BlackBerry anymore unless they're upgrading and tied too much into BBM. RIM can only manage to retain users, which they're struggling with let along bring new users in.

I got a BlackBerry 2 years ago because it was the only option. Got the 8900 a year ago because I didn't know about Android's future. Now that Android is a mature OS, there is no reason for someone to buy a BlackBerry except MY BBM or work pays for it.

I would be a little leery of it.  First of all, I haven't really seen any specific models by specific manufacturers with approximate release dates.  I just keep hearing this October.  I don't really know if they're on schedule.

But I saw this review from last week of someone who saw an in depth demo of the operating system and basically he said the UI doesn't stack up to other current phones.  I posted the link to the InfoWorld article in the Windows Phone 7 subforum.

I don't see the big hype over WM7. I don't like those windows panels. I hope that can be changed.
