Wait, there's a video of the Vibrant dropping a call due to a touch by one finger?!? I HAVE to check this out, link PLZ.

Clearly Apple is giving out free bumpers, (or ANY case, yay!) to people who have NOT purchased the phone, since they were the only ones complaining.

But facts are facts. No one cared, but people who weren't going to buy it.

I guess that's why Apple scheduled a press release for today.  And to save you the trouble, its not characteristic of Apple to be greatly concerned about what the media thinks either positively or negatively.

Facts are definitely facts, selective use of those facts however does tend to slant the representation of those facts in to one's own predetermined ideals and/or reality.

Wow, business as usual.
Saint Jobs does his usual song and dance, pulls some numbers out of his you-know-what and the crowd goes crazy.

I still don't see how sales numbers and return rates are relevant to the antenna problem, but if Stevie says so, it's gotta be true ... </sarcasm>

Yes. So they can shut all the haters up and stop the silliness of videos etc. and give those 3 million apparently happy iPhone users a free bumper. BTW, I will get a free bumper when I ordered mines. THANKS ALL!

There it goes again, sales numbers.....what about the issue...so i guess you parading your free bumber around, you accept the fact that there is  a problem...funny no other phones had this problem till apple did....im seriously starting to wonder if apple puts subliminal messages into the phones to make you guys so loyal....ten years from now you start seeing stuff and apple says hey we hypnotized you...so what the stature of limitations ran out you cant do squat.....now your walking around with a scrambled brain. and you cant do anything about it.

Clearly Apple is giving out free bumpers, (or ANY case, yay!) to people who have NOT purchased the phone, since they were the only ones complaining.

No, you got it backwards.  0.55% of people claimed to Apple about reception problems (about 16,500 out of the 3 million.)  They can receive free bumpers.

The other 99.45% who have no reception complaints can also receive a free bumper because Apple wants EVERY customers to be happy.

0% of non-owners will receive a free bumper no matter how much complaining they might have done over the past couple of weeks.

I guess that's why Apple scheduled a press release for today.

They had a press conference today because the anti-Apple blogs kept trying to blow this issue out of proportion.  So Apple explained it in detail and offered a solution to all.   Now the blogs will have to find a new issue to write about.

funny no other phones had this problem till apple did.

This is not true.  Apple clearly showed this happening to other smartphones.  But it was only when Apple was attacked did they have to expose the deficiencies in other phones.

LOL! You just hate FACTs, don't cha? I can show you more video "truths" if that will make you happy. How about an Endgadget poll?

Like I said: Overyhyped. Overblown. Thanks to y'all & the whole Antennagate stupidity,  I get a free bumper. And I didn't even need one. ;)

Consumer Reports tests the Apple bumper:

With the Bumper fitted, we repeated the test procedure, placing a finger on the Bumper at the point at which it covers the gap below. The result was a negligible drop in signal strength—so slight that it would not have any effect, in our judgment.

http://blogs.consumerreports.org/electronics/iphone-4/

Where are the headlines in all of the media outlets reporting this?   They didn't hesitate to pass along Monday's test.  So I'm really surprised I can't find this news among the headlines today.

Furthermore, Consumer Reports ended their report as follows:

But these options all put the onus on consumers to solve or pay for a fix. We're still calling on Apple to provide an acceptable free solution to the iPhone 4's signal-loss problem.

Well it's been over several hours since Apple announced their free solution.  If Consumer Reports is as reputable as many people have said, I would expect to see the iPhone4 back on their recommended list by now.  But several hours after the conference, that doesn't seem to be the case....

Can someone find a turtle neck for Steve that actually fits him? Perhaps a size down from what he normally wears.

So now you can beleive them again, because they're saying something good...

It has nothing to do with belief.  If Consumer Reports has tested and verified Apple's fix and Apple is offering it for free thus meeting Consumer Report's criteria, than Consumer Reports should do the honorable thing and issue a press release stating that they are now adding the iPhone4 to their recommended list.

Failure by them do so, really calls in to question their lack of partiality in this matter.

This is great, they're opening the press conference by playing the iPhone antenna song!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKIcaejkpD4

"Hey let's all sing this song: if you don't want an iPhone 4 don't buy it, if you bought one and you don't like it, bring it back."

Steve says

3 million sold!  Highest customer satisfaction of any iPhone to date!

Bahahahahaha! I just watched this! So freakin' true. LOL! The way the guy holds it during the "everyday" use segment is EXACTLY how I hold my 1G iphone, but with smaller fingers. ;)

What a lot of hoopla for 16,500 ACTUAL iPhone complaints. But thankfully All the 3 million+ will now get a free bumper out of it through end of September. Wonder how many iPhone's will be sold by then? ;)

Man I love Apple and Steve Jobs so much. Wish I could have an iPhone 4( it just sucks that I own a Nexus One, HD2 and Samsung Galaxy S) I am so envious of you iPhone 4 owners. LOL!!!

On a serious note! Is everyone going to need a case for their iPhone's now or what?

No. We just get them all free now. Wheee!! I was planning on ghost armoring mines. I'll just sell my bumper on ebay or something. ;) Thanks Steve. And thanks .55% of Apple owners who complained and the 100% of non-owners.
