Damn it. They did it again. Right when I said there would be no update they expedited it out of the blue.
Hmmm, in that case start saying that about all the updates we expect to see on our handsets. 8)

Yah!  Although my wife has the Fender LE (which is not part of this update), this is good news.  Hopefully the MT3G 1.2 and the Fender LE will be next and hopefully soon.

It doesn't ask you to mount your phone in the notifications shade? Does anything appear, i.e., a debugging alert?

When I called T-Mobile customer care today, I was told that the MyTouch 3G without the 3.5 WOULD NOT be getting the Eclair. When I was in the store today, the guy told me that the ones without the 3.5 jack WOULD be getting the update. Can someone please clear this up? I'm getting two different answers from T-Mobile (shocking! :::sarcasm much today?:::), and it's making me a little crazy.

Two of the phones on our plan are the original MyTouch 3G without the 3.5 jack. Are we getting the version 2.2? I can't find any definitive answers from a reliable source.

That is the phone that is supposed to be getting the update first is the original my touch, and it is supposed to run through the 25th of the month.  If you don't get it by then, then I would call T-Mo back and talk to tech support.

Mine was surprisingly updated right away...on the 15th of Oct if I remember right.  Total surprise.  2.2 is much nicer but I've found it really lags my phone down.  Seems to take alot of memory or something.  I do love the google Navigation but it really slows the phone down.  Many times apps freeze and close themselves.  I love the update for the features but it's kinda much on this ole HTC.  I've debated clocking the processor but wonder if it's worth it considering eventually I'm gonna upgrade when I decide what the heck I want for a new phone.

Over all I give the update a 2 thumbs up for functionality and usefulness.  Just need to clock it so it can run faster.

The froyo update makes the phone "prettier", but I find no improvement in speed, functionality, or overall usefulness.  EVERYTHING lags with this update, apps force close all the time, and I see no improvement ANYWHERE.  The double tap to zoom only works half the time, the camera and video camera are incredibly slow, slow to the point that they're almost unusable.  The new look gallery take FOREVER to load pictures on your sd card to view them.  I swear it takes 10 times as long to load the pics as it did in 1.6.  Theres a built in app killer type function within the 2.2 and it only "kills" the apps you select about half the time.  I had very high hopes for this 2.2 update, but I see very little to be excited about with this update.
I expected to be able to zoom in an out of apps, but going from closing out an app back to the home screen takes longer than it did in 1.6.  The web browsing experience is not improved at all, and in fact it may take LONGER to surf the web with 2.2.   There's You Tube bugs all over the place, as videos load, play sound, but no audio.  Finally, I did NOTHING to the phone since the update, other than install the update - didn't add apps, f#ck around with settings, - NOTHING - it just seems as though my Froyo update has made my already slow and outdated MT3G into an even slower MT3G with Android 2.2...
