The software solution is a recent breakthrough. Before phones with smart WiFi available were only able to have UMA in which smart WiFi isnt entirely hardware based. All android phones should receive UMA in the form of an app built into the OS or an app downloadable from the market. Either way all Android phones should be getting this & the article that seemed to be overlooked seems like T-Mobile is going to be going at it again with UMA. Hopefully this can come to Windows Mobile. Also we may see the Unlimited feature that provides unlimited wi-fi calling come back within the next several months.

+1 Viper.  Awesome anwser.  If it's true that it could be just an app or software upgrade that would be awesome, I like UMA, I get terrible signal in my house, and would like to keep it, now it sounds like I can.  Switching to Android sounds easier by the day just release the bloody Slide already.
