Author Topic: Should I get a used Nexus one?  (Read 909 times)

I need some advice.

I had the G1 when it first came out, and I really enjoyed it; however,  I hated the battery life and it being so bulky.  I ended up trading it for a Blackberry 8900.  I enjoy the 8900... it does everything I want it to.. but its really boring!

I am considering getting a used nexus one, but I wanted to know people opinions about getting this phone used.  I read that the original warranty does not extend to second hand buyers?  Do you guys think that is an issue?  If i put all that money in this phone and something goes wrong, I will be really upset.  Any recommendations?  I want a phone with 3g that is a good internet browser and an overall fun experience... should I consider the cliq or mt3g?

I would appreciate any input.

You will probably hate the battery life on the N1.   :-\

After some serious tweaking and hanging out on the xda dev forums, I can get a solid 24-36 hours of normal use. Kind of depends on how long I play RC Pro-Am on the crapper at work though.  :P

I came from blackberry as well (also due to boredom), and the N1 is insane. Its also about to get a boat load more insane with Froyo (flash + JIT). There was a  pretty big 'getting used to it' curve though. Remember you're going from arguably the worlds best keyboards to a full touch screen. It took me a good two weeks to get up to speed.

I think the battery life is fine.
Im not sure about the second hand users and warranties but I would HIGHLY recommend not buying a rooted used nexus one. HIGHLY
T-Mobile Nexus One (CM7)

Thanks for the advice.

My one year smartphone renewal is in July, so I am thinking I may get a Mytouch3g or cliq to play around with until I can get a high end new phone for contract extension.

i'm in the same boat as you, but i think i'm get a new one. It prob will be better, warranty will start from the day you get it and not when the old one was purchased and if anything is the wrong with the old N1 you will get a refurbirhsed one, with the new one, well within 14period 30 in cai you will get a new one..So yes lil bit more money but more security...

What kind of tweaks did you make?

RC Pro Am is one of the greatest NES games ever. It works really well on the N1 using the track ball to drive.  ;D
