Possibly sliding the keyboard in on the Dell Venue Pro & turning it could possibly launch landscape. HD7 was shown w/ landscape mode in netflix.
That has been 100% confirmed by a Dell rep at the event in NY. The on-screen virtual QWERTY can be in landscape on the Venue with the physical keyboard closed. Also in landscape: videos and other such media. On top of that, I imagine any app that takes advantage of landscape mode can be shown in landscape.

The Dell rep has been quick to point out the accelerometer is right there to instantly put you in landscape when needed.

Sprint exclusive.

An exclusive these days can mean any time limit of less than one week to years.

I call 8 months to a year and a half on all exclusives.

Problem is, the phone is in CDMA for Sprint. Yes, overseas they have the GSM variant that could come over - but that wouldn't have T-Mobile's 3G bands. More manufacturers need to do what HTC did with the Touch Pro2 - release it in all bands on every carrier in the US. Just let each carrier order it in its own flavor so they don't all look the same :)

The Touch Pro 2 (Windows Phone 7) variant wouldnt even till next year which will probably have the same roadmap like the Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile 6.1/6.5) did.

How soon after wp7 launch can we expect this phone?

Although, I fell in love with the dell lightening back in April, I am worried it will become outdated much faster than phones coming out around the same time.  It goes back to the processor, limiting OS speed and network speed (lack of hspa+ on 1st gen snapdragons).

Feel like this and HD7 are the 2 powerhouses on wp7, why not more details on this one?

Technology is always advancing, at what point do you stop waiting and just buy the device? By the time you wait for a better processor a newer, faster one is announced, would you wait for that as well? Nothing so far suggests any WP7 device is hurting by using a 1st gen Snapdragon, by the time MS certifies the next gen it could be a year. Better to buy and enjoy then upgrade to something when its proven to give better performance, rather than just going by theoretical benefits based on specs alone.

ehh, i believe you have a valid point but this is different.  The snapdragon has been around for sometime, as in, it was used in windows mobile 6.5 on the HD2.  Also, most of the newer high end t-mobile phones will come with hspa+.

Maybe if you were arguing buying a intel processor right now instead of waiting for their new chipset architecture in Q2 2011 but we are talking about technologies that will or already are standard on high end phones.

I dont mind waiting a while for a good phone. some people out there just get every phone that comes out..not my style.

I personally see nothing worth waiting for, HSPA is plenty fast enough and so far there is only 1 device with HSPA+ so its far from standard on T-Mo phones. Faster, better, newer doesnt mean much if you have to wait months to enjoy it and there's no telling how long it will be before MS certifies newer processors for WP7 and whether any of those devices will even come to T-Mobile. Makes more sense to me to go with what is available rather than wait for something that may take up to a year to materialise.

They probably wont even make HSPA+ a standard on most phones at this time due to the fact that it would use more bandwidth because it can suck up more speeds.

+1

WP7 looks pretty snappy anyway. As a basically new OS, it seems optimized for the Snapdragon anyway... and yes, there really is always "something better" looming on the horizon.

But last year things were at a halt especially w/ the 528Mhz processor being everywhere.
