Fingers crossed for an Android device.

i heard it will be some Samsung dumbphone first.. then a HSPA+ capable smarphone in late 2H.

*EDIT* .. sorry.. i had to twist ya'lls ankle on that bad joke lol.. i don't think there will be a HSPA+ dumbphone anytime soon.. but yea, look out for Tmo's first HSPA+ smartphone in 2H (im gonna guess during the Holiday season).. i heard there will be a meeting in Seattle about it.

I'm hoping for a true G1 successor. Nice 5-row landscape QWERTY, with Snapdragon and all the features expected out of a flagship device because T-Mobile needs one. The first in the world with Android shouldn't be stuck championing HVGA ARM11 Android devices.

Same here and I agree, but I'll even take it without a hardware keyboard.

So when is Seattle suppose to get HSPA+?  You would think that since Corp. HQ is in the area, Seattle would be one of the first areas to get it.

i have no clue.. we've already heard that the New York area, and Las Vegas is HSPA(+) now, and L.A. about to get it soon.. there was no other mentions in there other from they have the backhaul/fiber in over 10,000 out of 43,000+ cell sites that are now HSPA(+) capable.. so hopefully Seattle apart of that 10,000+ list.. all i can say is just wait for a surprise.. maybe summertime.

Me too, but I think imma sell my Cliq (DESPISE THE BATTERY LIFE & the fact that it only runs on Android 1.5 even thou 2.1 is coming this 2nd quarter) can't deal with the battery life though. & get me the Nokia Nuron to save a lil money for some months, then get a high-end Android when it comes out

Get a G1 :)

1.  Cheap cost
2.  Faster than Cliq (when rooted & clocked to 528)
3.  Most 2.1 features available now- newest Cygen rom rocks (rooted)
4.  Better 2G radio than the Cliq

Of course you will have less app memory and no 3.5mm jack...... OK, if apps and Android are your priority- get the G1, if MP3's are more your thing, go with the Nuron.

BTW, I still do not see the point of faster speeds if the majority of the network compared to other carriers is 2G.  Focus on more 3G coverage first and then higher speeds.  Tmo loses customers due to weak coverage- not lack of super hyper fast mega data speeds.

I certainly hope there are some legs under this. Would be great to see an HSPA+ HTC Android handset in the second half of this year. I am eligible for an upgrade in November. I just rooted my G1 so my itch for a new device is at bay...for now.

If they plan to launch later this year, some details have to be floating out there. Patience will be the key I guess.

Yeah I was in a store a couple weeks ago, and a rep told me about a 'similiar to the Nexus1, Android phone coming soon".. He was dead on with all the info, except for Android..

Forget the HTC Desire. Give us an HSPA+ 21Mbps Evo-like device with Android 2.2.

Which carrier are you with again? Baby steps, baby steps. ;)

I want a stock Android powerhouse. 1ghz processor and 512MB RAM. I will root and decide on what firmware it runs myself.
I support anyone who brings about competition and innovation. Be it Google, Apple, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Palm, Microsoft, RIM, LG, Sharp, or anyone else I may have forgot. Variety is great. What's good for one person, is dead wrong for another.

I'm with you, hope it isnt the Desire. We need something on the Evo's level.
