Does anyone have this device?  If so, was it worth the $99?  It looks like a pretty good deal for a android smartphone.

I have it and I truly love it, to me it's a great little phone. I read lots of forums and hardcore phone junkies really don't like this phone, but I don't see anything wrong with it. It runs pretty well, I love that I could customize the news widgets to my liking. I set up feeds to regular news, gadget news and gaming. It runs android 1.5, this is a big no no for the hardcore phone junkies... How I look at it, I don't know what 2.0 or 2.1 android os is suppose to do, so until we get an update. I'm fine. I had the Dash 3G and I truly hated it, so this Cliq xt is a much needed welcome change. I LOVE IT!

Pics are nice and clear, video is great. Its responsive to the touch and you get 5 screens, I'm only using 3 now. Oh if you get it look into the Beautiful Widget for the retro clock, I really like the look of it. It reminds me of the HTC Hero interface.

I recommend getting "Weather widget donate", you get weather widgets as well as a flipclock. (Just like on Htc Sense) I'm certainly glad that you like the phone Ms. Matrix!

ps, In total it will run $128.32(that's what I paid), that depends if you get charged with the $18 upgrade fee, plus tax. Beautiful Widget has a nice little weather widget too, but I'll look to the one you suggested. Thanks!

Apologize for coming in a month late on this thread, I just found these forums and joined today....

I have a BB 8820 that I've had for a little over 2 years.  I really have no problem with the phone, it is very comfortable for me to use and I don't have any complaints save that the phone isn't "fun."  I refuse to buy anything that Steve Jobs makes and I am excited about Android phones.  With that said, I have read a lot of information about the Cliq XT and I am seriously considering getting one but I have a few reservations....

1.  My "upgrade" price is $189 plus an $18 upgrade fee....
2.  I really like all the features of my BB and would like to be able to utilize it from time to time, so I'm not sure I'd like to drop the BB service.  There are phones available on Ebay for $250 that would allow me to just swap SIM cards between the two with no need for a plan swap.
3.  The slower processor that Motorola is essentially abandoning.
4.  "Possible" newer Android phones with better processors, more memory, but no actual release date.
5.  I have no immediate need to upgrade my current phone.

So, I'm looking for opinions here---What are my options?  Is the Cliq XT worth accepting the slower processor?  Is the phone worth the price?  Should I wait for something potentially better, including an unlocked phone from a different provider like AT&T?  I'm teetering here, and I don't want to make a stupid decision that I'll regret.

@wranglersm-if your happy with your BB then you should keep it. It doesn't make sense to buy anything you won't be happy with. For me I had to get a new phone cause I hated the Dash 3G... I'm happy with the cliq xt, but I'm sure it won't be for eveyone.

Since your not in a rush to buy anything you have time to look and see what else is coming out. The mytouch 3g will have a slider phone coming out soon, so check that out. As for AT&T they have the Evo which is nice too, only the screen is a bit large. Personally Verizon has better phone coming out and I know some new BB will be coming out as well.

As for teetering, I'm sure you will be ok. They have a program called PDAnet.com (I think) that you can use for that. Free for trial, then you pay for the full ver.

I got the CliqXT about ten days ago. I'm liking it so far. My only concern is the keyboard. It's probably just a learning curve thing b/c it's already getting better for me.

I had a samsung behold (the first one, not the behold 2). I just can't seem to type as smoothly on the CliqXT. It was so bad that I even thought about taking the phone back. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I'm using swype, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. Although the Android keyboard does have the "feedback" I like.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.  I ended up getting a slightly used XT off ebay for less than $200, which means I won't have to change my plan with T-Mo.  I've been a devoted BB owner for 5 years now so it'll take a bit to change my mind, but I'm really stoked about Android.  I'm also happy that if I don't like the phone I can flip it and still just take my Sim card and throw it back in to my BB.  I'm still interested in feedback though, and I'll be happy to post my experience with the phone as well.

Try out Htc's keyboard on there.
