Yippee!! All is well in the world indeed. Upon getting my second OTA update we now have portrait web browsing, many other bug fixes, and did I mention the phone is now capable of opening the "Stairway to Heaven". Well it is obvious that the last item is not true, but the battery life and overall responsiveness of the device is certainly improved, for a full break down of all the upgrades check:

I can't wait to get mine. How do you like the OVI store?

For the moment I am not really excited about the Ovi Store, then again when I had my iPhone I wasn't really that big into the App Store, so that might say something. There are some videos and additional themes and what not, but a lot of it seems to be stuff you can already download through the App Manager.

You should be able to update your device:

Negative. There is no native MMS just yet, but it is coming.

There are a number of really awesome projects in the works as well, an example being the handful of folks working to port Android onto the N900. Honestly I would not be surprised if someone found a way to load OSX onto this device, I am ruling nothing out.

Android, Are you serious ?

Oh yes, I am very serious. The reports are that it has been loaded with some minor fixes being needed (I believe WiFi, Sounds and screen resolution might have been mentioned along with stability). If I recall correctly software is loaded onto the phone that allows a bootloader option screen if you open the keyboard and then turn on the phone, the testing I have read about loaded Android off of a microSD card.

The benefits? My opinion is that for the moment the benefits would include a greater selection of apps (including the Google Apps) and bragging rights. The Maemo platform seems to be more open than Android and thus the greater OS (they are both evolving and growing).

I am very excited to one day be able to dual boot my little pocket PC(n900). I like the updates...but dont love them. Very excited about the bug fixes, phone runs a lot smoother. Im going to be in phone heaven if we get full portrait support in the OS. Other than that this thing blows me away everytime I use it.

The best moment in owning the N900 thus far occured yesterday when i was with a bunch of friends and one of them was talking about getting either the Droid or an iPhone (depending on which carrier he went with). Of course there was a person at the table with each device preaching about why theirs was better, I smuggly pulled out my N900 and played the movie preview for "9", which came on the phone and the dude with the Droid said nothing, and the guy with the iPhone stated how blown away he was by the picture quality. I think I had him sold just based on how amazing the screen is.

Of course I didn't intend for this to lead into a contest to see which phone displayed the removal of the biggest zit ever (care of YouTube, trust me it is gross and worth skipping) but hey, that is the price I guess we pay for having perhaps the sickest and slickest phone currently available.

You can download and use fMMS right now.  It's still in development, but very usable.

Why replace Maemo - the most powerful friggin' mobile OS on the planet - with an inferior OS, especially Android.  Why?  So we can have fart apps?  It's counter-productive to waste time and effort on this.

The apps for Maemo will come.   Anyone remember what was available for the iPhone or G1 when they were released?   If so, you know Maemo, both in terms of the OS itself and apps for it, is already far, far ahead of where they were 2 months after introduction.

Nokia is an absolute monster in the phone business.  They have the killer OS and the resources to make things happen with Maemo.  And they know that they have to compete, so the motivation is there.  A little patience with Maemo will pay big rewards in 6-12 months.

I am in agreement with all of your points, I just think it is awesome that the phone can handle damn near everything that is thrown at it.

I <3 Maemo.

I also agree and I am not owrried about waiting. I am used to being a early adapter. Im just hoping the N900 is going to be compatible with Maemo 6.
P.S. Im loving this Matrix theme.
