I'm looking at the HD2.  You might want to add that to your Poll.

It will definitely be an interesting phone, especially with the new SnapDragon processor.

I just hope I can keep it longer than 3 weeks.

Should be a fairly nice unit but I'm not knocked out by it.  As I posted in another thread...

a. No real keyboard is an automatic fail for me.  It's not even a choice, it's a requirement.
b. Snapdragon processors don't seem live up to the hype.  It's all about having that magic 1GHz number for advertising purposes.  They have no dedicated graphics processor like the Cortex-A8 so that work is done by the CPU, eating cycles and power.  The 600MHz Cortex-A8 + PowerVR SGX graphics used in the Nokia N900 andiPhone 3GS may well give as good or better performance and better battery life than the 1GHz Snapdragon.
c. Like all Android phones so far, the Nexus One has a serious lack of onboard storage capacity, mostly just the micro SD card.  The Nokia N900 has 32GB + micro SD card.
d. I'll take the N900/Maemo > Nexus One/Android anytime.  I was one of the first Android users and a big booster for Android.  But Maemo blows it up...

On the plus side...

a. The 512mb of RAM is good.
b. Android 2.1 has come a long ways from 1.0.
c. Would be good competition for the iPhone among keyboardless units IF it had 16-32GB onboard storage.

Having worked with both VK and real keyboards, real is always better, whoever opposes this is lying. But they may not be lying if they tell you the virtual keyboard is sufficient enough for daily use, especially true once you work with screens >3.2" size.

At 3.7 inches of real estate, I don't mind a VK and not having a real keyboard will keep the price down. I will reconsider, should the G1 ever have it's real (and high end) successor.

Being a heavy user, a long time ago I accepted the truth regarding battery life and monday through friday, you can find a usb cable in my pocket, no matter what phone I'm using. As soon as a breakthrough in battery tech allows > 2500 mAh capacity, I''ll reconsider until then, I expect the worst from all phones.

It's all speculation without knowing a price but the N1 seems to be a affordable high end set, which is exactly what TMO needs.

For my next phone, rhe only 2 criteria I will not compromise on are TMO 3G compatibility and speed. After that, my preferences are Android OS and capacitive touch screen. N1 fits like a glove, for me at least.

Looking forward to the Nexus One, I also would like a real keyboard, but at the same time I am stoked that T-Mo is getting this awesome phone.  I will buy it, unless the price is retarded, and if i don't like it I'll hand it to my wife who won't care anyway.

I wouldn't believe everything and I don't think the specs are accurate either but the snapdragon processor is nice but will be capped as most are so it doesn't matter all that much but users should learn a bit more about technology before speaking on the subject at hand.

yeah, but im sure they set it up so that way its doing nothing and then when you open an app that takes up a lot of processor/memory it goes full speed ahead. or at least thats what i would think.

Not unless it's dirt cheap and on multiple carriers, in every country.  The I-Phone is established all over the world and they come out with an updated version every year.  There are people who will only buy Apple, they think Steve Jobs is a god, and your not gonna change those people.  What you will get with a low priced awesome phone are most of us and a lot of the people on the fringe of buying a smartphone who don't want to spend the high price for one.

that is 100% true. there are apple fan boys who will die for steve jobs. htc could come out with an android device with 120 gb of ram and rom with a micro sd slot that is expandable to 64 gbs, and a 2 ghz processor, with a bullet proof 5 inch capacitive touchscreen, housing made out of solid metal, with a huge full querty keyboard, only being 10 mms thick, packed with tegra madness, and only cost $100. apple fan boys will still buy the 2g iphone for $500 and not buy the phone i just described, aka the G2.

As already mentioned by analysts, the app space issue will stunt sales of Android in relation to iPhone levels.  Android needs to resolve the space issue so more apps are created and more commercial involvement.  The apps are what fuels the growth of iPhone sales.  There is a reason Apple spends millions on "There is an app for that".  It is to perpetuate hardware sales along with the app revenue model.

Android corrects the space issue, all bets are off.  A 1GB rom for apps will be the sweet spot if Android sticks with no microsd installs.
