The article on the blog is a joke.

The reason cited as to why T-mobile might get the iphone is because it would help them with subscribers - no sh*it sherlock - the iPhone would help any company that picks it up with getting more subscribers.

I think the real joke here is the undermined notion of just how popular the iPhone truly is. Love it or hate it, that phone has a larger appeal than Android does right now and will remain so. Android is not going to go mainstream without a super good looking, sexy device. The droid isn't it, approaching one million sales to overwhelmingly men. Wow, I'm impressed. I think Android is convoluted and not yet ready for Grandpa to pick up and use as they can do with the iPhone with little mobile experience. Facts are facts and you can kick, yell and scream all you want about how you much you hate Apple, this is a T-Mobile fan site and as such will discuss the future confirmed and possible comings of a device, whether or not you care for it is irrelevant. I don't cater to one or two members, I cater to millions of readers a great deal of whom may want the iPhone if and when its released.

Secondly, I'm not sure if you are referring to my writing or the Appleinsider post but calling either a joke shows the very kind of argument that gets us nowhere. If you want a discussion about whether or not T-Mobile needs or should pursue the iPhone fine, but do it without a personal attack.

IMO by time 3rd Q rolls around android will be better, faster, and nicer. with better apps, snapdragons and more memory with a better ui than the icons on an iphone.

iDont run widgets, Android does.
iDont have a customizable anything, Android dose.
iM not open source, Android is.
iCant be accessed without itunes, Android can.
iDo have wifi issues, Android does not
iDo have good apps, Android does not.
iDo overheat, Android does not.
iThink Android is Beast.

Again, all personal opinions, what works for you, may not work for me and vice versa. The fact of the matter is that the iPhone changed the smartphone landscape for better or worse and put the smartphone in the hands of those who otherwise might have never considered one. Call it what you will, the iPhone on T-Mobile is good for T-Mobile.

Good job with another iphone rumor for 6-12 months from now. I was shocked to see that instead of somthing a little more relevant to TMO

We haven't heard much but i would bet money that Apple releases OS 4.0 this june which catches itself up to a more active homescreen and widgets.

Well at the time I wrote that post, that sholes tablet has yet to be thrown up by boygenius, that's why it went up first.

i understand tmobile getting the iphone would be a good thing. but on person basically said that android is nothing. and android also changed the smartphone world, im not denying that the iphone changed the smartphone world, or that tmobile getting it would be bad. i like the iphone for the apps, i like android for the stuff it can do. android will get better apps. the iphone is a gaming device that just happens to have a phone. android is a great os thats still taking baby steps. you guys are talking about os x 4.0 im on 1.5 waiting for 2.0. the iphone has been out for a longer time than android. when the iphone came out it had no apps, and a lot of problems. android will get better and IMO android will take over.

Thats what im thinking too, its moving rapidly as in terms of development, its like theres a different build every month or so...but the iphone is the iphone, and as long as that name exists or until ppl get tired or apple tarnishes its reputation somehow, its going to remain the number one phone for a while...android will take the center stage one day but as of now or at least up until summer 2010 until we know what apple is up to and some specs to go with it we cant say. personally i would love to see the iphone on tmo..i loath apple and thier policies and i cannot stand steve jobs because of previous comments but im looking at the big picture here more subscribers on tmo means better phones and service for the future and i would love to see tmobile take the lead in the us phone market i agree some of thier phones arent the best in the country but to me its the most honest and decent companies of the four major carriers.

Well, since we're entirely speculating, a couple of points...

1) AT&T won't be dropping the iPhone most likely, it just won't have exclusivity.  Some may decide to drop AT&T however.

2) There has been no good evidence that the iPhone is going to Verizon or T-Mobile other than a few off beat "analysts".  Expect any day now for a report to come out with a prediction of a Sprint iPhone.  Basically, we're pretty sure the AT&T exclusivity agreement is terming in early to mid 2010, but Apple is keeping their intentions close to vest.  And for some reason, we all wanna know...

3) iPhone revision 3.1 has already been spotted browsing a few web sites, whatever Apple is planning, its already well underway.

4) A CDMA / EVDO version of the iPhone may make sense short term, but considering it hasn't happened in almost three years I wouldn't wait up for it.

5) What did Apple ever do with the P.A. Semi Conductors acquisition............

Some? I think a good amount will take their iPhone elsewhere after the horrible service they've been receiving. Granted, it won't be a majority but I can definitely see a substantial portion.

That would just throw them off track, i doubt apple is going exclusive with another carrier in the us again, when they could market it off to a lot of other us carriers and make more money. i say att, tmobile and if they created a cdma version then vzw or sprint but i doubt it since those are the only two cdma carriers that apple would make if for and well thats senseless, seeing as how all the carriers they market it to all use sim cards.

They would hit the jackpot if they released a CDMA device. Those ppl who are on CDMA which are alot could use an iphone. 3.1 is probably what will support CDMA. Putting it on T-Mobile would not make them much more money due to AT&T already had the device on a GSM network & those who wanted it could get it unlocked.

Welcome to TmoNews!
Yes I agree. But I'm starting to think its not AT&T anymore, rather the iPhone itself. If you can see Orange UK and 02 are starting to have network problems that seem to be related to the iPhone.
I think its going to Verizon.
I think Verizon will get the Apple Tablet, but the iPhone will come to T-Mobile.

But why would apple want to put it on Verizon is cdma is dying out? Would they just upgrade the itablet to 4g when its available or something else?

plus the only reason verizon has so much coverage is because of its government contracts :P every government blackberry and card is verizon
