Mine is the same. The Cliq is connected to the internet (3G or WiFi) so it is constantly updating all your widgets. My Cliq lasts about half day when using it moderately.

Half a day on the battery? :o  Good lord.  I have to have at least a day’s worth of battery power being out in the field. A half a day is unacceptable.

I'd suggest turning Wi-Fi off. I run mine with GPS and 3G, facebook/twitter/myspace widgets updating, and get at least a day's use with moderate use. I often play some intensive games which really hurt the battery life, but I have absolutely no complaints. Wi-Fi was the biggest drain on my battery and it's not too often that I want to do serious enough browsing with wi-fi that it's worth the battery drain for me.

I have found if you turn off the widgets running in the background, wifi off, and 3g off with moderate use you can get almost 2 days.  with heavy use, I would say maybe a day.  I just turn off my phone at night, and turn it on in the morning, that way i can charge it every other day.  On a side not I have no data plan and can access Wiifi to pull emails and dload market apps.  The reason I have no data plan is because I got the phone on ebay, that's the trick if you have a wifi connection, it works.  In my humble opinion this is the best android device for t-mobile.  I had the G1, MT3g, and tried the Behold 2, i really hope they update to 2.0 soon, or at least 1.6, maybe before Xmas

3G eats the battery life.

The industry desperately needs advancement in battery technology. This is unacceptable to have to disable the functionality of a phone just to be able to use it for a day. Disappointing.

True.
It is also frustrating to know that people are working on the technology, but it takes several years at best to find a way to mass market.

Cliq battery is going to suck naturally because of motoblur so that plus android and a low capacity battery just screams fail but I get a full day on my G1 with moderate to heavy use.

Like I said with mine, moderate to heavy usage still gives me right around 24 hours.  This is not including calling though as working for a call center for 40 hours a week tends to keep your head geared more to texting lol.  And also not including google maps service because I found that google maps with street view really kill the battery.  But moderate to heavy internet usage/texting/working with the social networks, playing music, pretty much everything, I get a good day out of it.

almost all smart phones have such a shortcoming. I once used a iPhone 3g whose battery could onlyl last less than 8 hours. You could just replace the battery when its life is coming to an end. The motorola cliq battery is not quite expensive.
